I am very far from religious, but this debate and the laws tied to it often are. My religion is football, and I attend Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays!

Damnit

I don't think I could ever point a gun at my wife and pull the trigger.

we treat dogs and horses more humanely than human beings when it comes to being terminally ill and in constant pain.

there's something fricked up about that.

Those who call upon Death may not be fully prepared to see his face.
They whisper to him, pleading in the wee hours of the night to feel his embrace.
Yet sometimes their own cry is too weak for death to hear. Sometimes they need an aiding shout.

your "joke" wasnt funny at all.

Fair criticism, but it was obviously MEANT to be funny. Comparing a mercy killing to an enraged ex is over the top and obviously not to be taken seriously. A troll has to be somewhat believable to incite an emotional response. Just a pet peeve of mine that the word gets thrown around so much.

...So the fact that the word "troll" was "misused" is more offensive than the fact that you just admitted to trying to be funny in a thread about the mercy killing of a terminally ill woman?

over medicate would be the way I would guess.
i know it seems more humane, but in reality dying by OD of medications is typically an excruciatingly painful way to go out. the bodys reaction to an overload of medicine is not a pretty sight...

I think a bullet would be a pretty humane way to go, but holy shite that's a messy, gruesome way to go.

I don't think I could do it

yeah, it's not like overdosing on Morphine would be a painless, pleasant experience.

I personally think its retarded that we don't allow assisted suicide. Would I have gone the 'choot her' route? No, more than likely not, but if the man honestly had to make that decision, he was clearly not thinking as a sane man in that moment.

Imagine knowing what youre about to do is about to take away the love of your life forever. A sane man's thoughts would be nowhere to be found.

Would not have to deal with this in Oregon, she would have the right to end her suffering
