Yeah Lil Kim looked awful. She used to be fine as frick and now she's plastic'd to shite.
I just watched the whole Milet Cyrus performance (only saw her and Robin Thicke last night), and she's trying to fricking hard to be "in your face whorish" that it makes her look stupid. I think she literally stuck her tongue out at least ten times...to the point that it was really weird. We get it...you're edgy now. Thanks for showing how badass you are by twerking and sticking your tongue out every few seconds. WTF? But I do think people are freaking the frick out about her more than they should. The VMAs have always been a place where female acts can kinda come out of their shell and try to shock people. Madonna did it a long time ago, Britney Spears did it. shite, Britney and Madonna did it together again when they kissed (and Christina Aguilera). This is just Miley Cyrus's turn to try to do the same thing.
Also, watching the performances on MTV.com, the audio isn't as fricked up as it was on TV last night, so I can actually hear them.
Also, Justin Timberlake is the man. Dude was awesome last night and he has some legit songs...this morning was the first time I actually listened to (and watched the video for) his entire Mirrors song (I rarely listen to new shite on the radio). It's good.
Also, I realized that one good thing came from all the shitty performances and artists last night...there was not a single sign of Justin Beiber.

she's decent, but nowhere near as good as her fame would suggest. she's famous because of her dad and disney, not because she's some "special" vocal talent.

No shes not. Have you ever seen her sing The Climb live? It will shock you to know how much post processing goes into her voice. She has absolutely no vocal range.
Lady Gaga is a talented singer. She's batshit crazy (or an excellent troll) with sometimes very questionable song choices, but that doesnt diminish her voice.

I'm not saying she's the best singer ever, but listen to this performance and tell me she doesn't have a gifted voice. And that's live with no tweaking.
Don't get me wrong, I think she's an idiot and I won't argue about how she became famous, but she's got a great singing voice. Her voice is actually tailored almost perfectly for country music when she eventually grows up.
Put it this way, I think she has a voice infinitely better than Britney Spears, and Britney was much more famous than Miley I think.

Not only does she have very very suspect pitch when singing live, she also has terrible tone quality. What comes out if the studio is completely different from what went in.

They can pitch correct live just as easily as in the studio fwiw. Still a good effort on her part

yea, I remember that. I'm not saying she sucks or has no talent, I'm just saying she's a dime a dozen. there are millions of decent female singers whoring it out in pop music and she's no different.

it's like Aguilera. she has an incredible voice, but went all trashy and whorish, got fat and everyone forgot about her voice. too many people want to be famous for shite they do rather than their musical talent.

Yeah, though Aguilera (as much as I fricking can't stand her) has one of the best voices of her generation IMO. She really can sing the frick out of some shite. My main problem with her singing is that she adds on too much bullshite and makes it sound stupid. But when she just sings a song normal, she's awesome.
