re: Alligator killed in Alabama (Posted on 8/23/13 at 7:16 pm to Tilco Baller)
I read up on gator hunting in Alabama earlier today. They have two short windows for hunting. Only those awarded one of the 275 (I think thats the correct #) tags can hunt or kill. Three designated areas, one around Mobile, one up north and one in the southeast part of the state. Very regulated on how the hunt and the kill is conducted. You must check in with the alabama wildlife dept. (whatever they call it) with your gator. No where near as fun as Louisiana does it...

Our hunting camp is about 25 miles upstream on the Alabama River from there near Dallas County Lake.
I never knew we had so many gators (large ones too) until a guy that owns land right next to us killed a 12 footer in the area about 3 years ago. One of our members found an 8 foot gator in a large puddle in the middle of one of our food plots a few summers ago. The strange thing is the food plot was on a pretty high bluff above the creek that borders our lease. The creek is a tributary that runs into the Alabama River about 2 miles from our lease.
