There is no real argument for gun lovers. They just love their guns. I had a coworker confess to me how much of a thrill he gets when he buys a new gun, and gets to shoot. This guy seems to buy a new gun 2-3 times a year( he sells some too).

It's very convenient that the gun lovers have 2nd amendment antiquated legislation to raise as cover for their obsession. But their obsession is really no different than the porn lovers, the heavy drinkers, the tobacco abusers, and anything else people get addicted to.

Humans are naturally uncomfortable when other people or groups have an advantage on them personally.
The modern firearm just happen to be the latest and greatest tool for equality.

Before that, it was the sword, the crossbow, the bow, the knife, the spear, the rock.

There will probably be new technology one day that will make present day firearms obsolete.
I'm sure there will be people around trying to ban that too.

Hell, E...may as well throw in all the *addicted* LSU football fans who are *obsessed* with petty, violent and formalized, evolutionary male dominance games cause they don't see the *real* meaning of life.

To each their own, buddy. Guns serve a good purpose. So does football. In fact, without football...the guns might be more problematic.

Anything else you can think of that are liberal addictions?

We're talking 2nd Amendment Mr. Dildo(another addiction of left leaning men). Homeland Security is buying up ammo caches that are enough to fight 10 year wars and arming local law enforcement agencies like our military, and rodeo clowns are the teeth cutting subjects of the day. The federal government fears it's own armed citizens more than foreign terrorists. Wake up rodeo clowns.

I didn't throw football in there. I threw in pornography, drunkedness, and tobacco use. What do you have to say about that.

What constitutes a gun lover? I am not willing to compromise at all when it comes to the 2nd amendment and I own a single handgun.

Where do you separate those who have an addiction and those who don't?

Ex-fricking-actly.

Gun lovers love their guns, and this is America where we get to explore the shite we love without oppression from the government.

Well, you equate a individual's enjoyment of a gun with porn, alcohol and tobacco. Like there are no instances where a good Christian man could morally enjoy shooting their gun, smoking a cigar and sipping a beer, while their girlfriend or wife flittered around in her best bikini. And the Tigers were kickin Saban's ass.

My point being, E...that one can perceive most any thing in this world as a negative *addiction*. Like typing on this computer...or judging other people's beliefs and actions. The Eastern Mystics have long proffered the idea that the pleasurable fulfillment of any desire (addiction) is what keeps man form experiencing the higher spiritual vision. We could type a volume re this concept.

IMHO, to each their own; as long as an individual only harms their own body or spirit...let em have at it. Adam set the bar; an educated choice is fundamental to life itself.

But as long as a gun lover don't shoot an innocent person...they are no different than anybody else. Doing their thing.

Sipping a beer is not the abuse known as getting drunk.

Watching your wife is not the filth of looking at naked women performing sex acts.

Tobacco abuse has no conjugate. It's always been abusive.

Owning a gun/hunting a deer is not the same as owning an unhealthy addiction to having lots of guns and getting a 'thrill' out of shooting them

And there are obsessed CFB fans who lose sleep at night and are depressed for weeks, and can't talk to anyone because their favorite team lost in what amounts to a kids game, to someone else's favorite team.

That's unhealthy too

He's absolutely correct about this:

quote:

The bottom line is the NRA doesn’t want to lose membership dues and gun companies don’t want to lose profits. It’s that simple. Nobody would lack for protection in this country if all automatic weapons and large magazines were outlawed. And nobody would be threatened if everyone who owns a gun were required to register it.

While personally I don't see any reason to own an "assualt rifle" (which is a nebulous term at best), the laws upon which this country was founded allow its citizens to do so. The fact of the matter is, if I really wanted to kill a person I do it just as easily with a shotgun as I could with an AR-15. If I wanted to kill several people it might be more efficient to use a gun with a 30 round clip, but I could still accomplish my goal with 2-3 handguns. It just might take a little more effort on my part. The thing that gun-control zealots never seem to wrap their brain around is that guns and bullets sitting alone don't kill people. People kill people. I've got a shotgun under my bed with 3 shells next to it. To my knowlege, the shell have never spontaneously hopped into the chamber and discharged on their own.

Fine, take away guns. People will invent some other efficient way of killing each on another. There have been people killing people on this Earth far longer than there have been guns. The gun-control argument is just another example of today's "blame everybody and everything but the person who actually did it" society.

Rexie did this man shoot himself with an automatic weapon or just murder himself with what ever was convenient for him?

I am sure the Constitution was written the way it was to insure the NRA had membership. You are a toad.

Because I've considered it nonsense, I did not subscribe to the notion that anyone needs to personally own combat weapons. I couldn’t even comprehend why it was ok for a civilian to own anything beyond 1-2 hand guns and 1-2 hunting rifles or shotguns. Semi-automatic rifles with large magazines - which is what the killer used at Sandy Hook, are for what possible good? Well, I guess if we didn’t know before, we sure know now what they are good for. Limiting these types of weapons hardly takes away the “rights” granted by the constitution or protection against tyranny. Rather it takes away the extremes – something the founders of the constitution could never have even remotely imagined.

Meh. If these were his beliefs then I am glad he will no longer be participating in the political process. Dead, moved away, whatever.

-does the first amendment apply to your Ipad or your ball point pen? did the founding fathers envision that, no but the constitution still applies.

You know what make me happy. The fact that people owning "assault rifles" makes people like you upset. And we'll always be allowed to own those guns. It will never change as much as you want it too. You know why? Because the pen is only mightier than the sword until the guy with the sword tells the guy with the pen he can go frick himself. I've never owned a gun in my life but reading posts like yours make me want to go out and buy one. And it's gonna be an AR-15 or AK or something like that with a shitton of 30 rd mags. I might by two or three. I'll probably never shoot until some a-hole tries to take it away.

If a person simply wants to look at the “government” as some mysterious nebulous entity, then that’s fine, but also ignorant. There is simply no way on earth that all of the law enforcement organizations including the military are going to band together to go throughout the country and confiscate weapons or anything else. That’s just paranoid nonsense.

Lol guess he didnt know about Katrina,
