This is appropriate for this entire thread.

Yeah, playing on nationally televised games with huge build-up is so terrible for our program.

And I don't think ever heard this much complaining about SEC home games. Jesus. "One or two" good games a year...really? frick off dude. If you don't want to go to the LSU-Auburn or LSU-Arkansas game, then you're ridiculous. You sound like the guy who buys season tickets, goes to the home Bama or Florida game, then sells the rest.

I would just like to revisit this gem from the OP

quote:

if it so important for us to recruit Houston, go play Rice there on a road trip and Wisconsin in Death Valley. Wanna recruit Dallas, play SMU there. Wanna recruit Memphis, play Memphis there. Wanna recruit South Florida, play Florida Atlantic in Miami. Personally. I would go to all of these road trips.

Obviously playing Rice in Houston would have the same recruiting impact as playing a marquee BCS school. But I'm sure you'd have a blast with the other 20,000 people in the stadium whenever we played @ Rice.

You've gone full retard. LSU would lose tons of money on this.

The OOC games are all about money now. The top half of teams can schedule the bottom half and its a win/win for both schools (but not the fans). The big school gets an easy win and a ton of money. The small school gets a big payday and can continue their football program for another year.
Neutral site games are the only way you can have 2 big teams play each other and both still make money. So if you took away the Wisconsin game at Lambeau , it'd be replaced with ULM or somebody like that. Which do you prefer?

ps: LSU is one of the very few big schools that has played home and homes with other big schools recently. I have no problem with 1 OOC neutral site game to open the season. Just wish they would upgrade on the home games- at least to BCS conference teams.

What % of LSU fans do season ticket holders make up?

The most important percentage, unless you're suggesting the LSU fan that doesn't hold tickets tends to financially support the athletic programs as much as season ticket holders do.

That being said, the majority of season ticket holders are not considered either, as their donation levels do not rise to the level of automatically getting the away game tickets they want...which I completely understand.

Season ticket holders get what they pay for. Season tickets.

Eh...to a degree. At the same time, season ticket holders are the ones who pony up for stadium improvements. Our stadium. As such, it's not such an outrageous desire for us to expect to have as many high profile games in that stadium as possible.

Florida hasn't left the state for an OOC game since 1993 when they lost at Syracuse, ffs

they play florida state and miami often, so why not keep the money in the state when you have those kind of matchups

Telling this stud recruiting class that they get to open their careers in reluant stadium and get to play in legendary lambeau field is a pretty cool thing

I agree it's cool. But I also believe it has no real impact on a recruit's decision.

UF is required by law to play FSU every year. No joke. As for Miami, they've played them less and less over the years. There's been plenty of room in the 20 years since Syracuse to play a game or two.

If all they are worried about is making money at these neutral site games, b/c it's about money, not recruiting, why don't they do a home and home and split the money for both games.

WHy can't they get some sponsers for home and homes. I mean who the hell doesn't want to see a Wisconsin/LSU home and home. PSU and Bama home and home is cool to see, sucks that PSU was terrible.
Teams like LSU, Florida, Bama, Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, OSU, Oregon, Wisconsin, Penn State, FSU, Texas, those are the stadiums fans want to see games being played at.

Sponsers pay out in these neutral site games b/c they know a lot of people will watch two good teams play. I don't think anyone says, "hey, Wisconsin and LSU are playing this Saturday in Baton Rouge. (next guy) I'll pass, wake me up when they play in the AstroDome"

WHy can't they do everythign the same hype and sponser wise, and just do it in Madison and Baton Rouge?

If you want to go to Madison so bad, then go see a Wisconsin football game!

Yes, but see, that's the season we plan on opening with Tulane at the Dome. Other than that, we don't have anyone big planned. Since we're already doing a "neutral" game", we need to bring someone here.

Nice try though

Nice try what? I was showing the OP that the Wisconsin games aren't proof that LSU is never going to play anyone big in Tiger Stadium again.

At the time these games were scheduled, several years before, most of them were supposed to be very good matchups. I remember looking forward to them and when they came around most of those teams werent very good at all.

Isn't that exactly what we're suggesting...that the LSU-Wisky game in Madison, and not Green Bay? Would that not be going to see a Wisconsin football game?

Look...I'd be more than happy to play Wisky at a neutral site...hopefully in the post season for the National Championship. Otherwise, all things being equal, I'd prefer to play them either at Tiger Stadium or Camp Randall.

Rouge, list all the bcs opponents starting with the unc game in 2010 to as far out as your list. I'm interested to see the breakdown.
