Just excuses. He had plenty of time to hone his skills and the coaches gave him snaps from the get-go.

Jordan Jefferson was his QB for two out of his 3 seasons and we threw the ball like 13 times a game. This idea that Shep had all of these opportunities is made up by rantards like yourself. They recruited him to play a Percy Harvin role and then proceeded to run a 1970 big 10 offense.

they recruited him because of potential. It didn't workout despite the coaching staff forcing the ball in his hands 2 dozen different ways.

Name me an LSU Tiger who touched the ball in more ways than RS in the last 10 years?

So you're saying he would average those yards with about 15-20 touches a game.

It's possible. His career yard per carry average is impressive. To dismiss it is idiotic.

He had skills, they just didn't fit in at LSU.

I love RS for his dedication to LSU, but some of you fail to see reality, possibly due to all of the hype from his recruitment. It reminds me of App State fans here in NC, who fail to see that Armani Edwards is not a great receiver or punt returner.

Like Ford, his ypc or yards per touch look good because of the way he was used...not in spite of it.

More touches or in more ways? I don't have the numbers off hand but his YPC was impressive, and if he didn't get the touches then your point is pretty irrelevant. We all knew the guy wasn't your prototypical WR and that's what we used him as, especially his last two years.

I'm not saying he couldn't have performed better, but you can't ignore that he played with garbage QB's and bad play calling. It's like everyone forgets all of that.

in more ways. The coaching staff was more creative with getting the ball in RS' hands than any other guy the last 10 years.

you wanted the coaching staff to change our offense around a guy who got beat out by 3 or 4 freshman over the course of his junior and senior year?

3 different QBs, but it's not RS, it's them? And again, the coaching staff did everything they could to help RS. He got way more playing time than your typical 5 string RB/WR would get. And that's about where he fell talent wise.

re: Russell Shepard getting some NFL pub

He said after his commitment that he was open to playing wherever the coaches needed him, so he had an idea that a position move was a strong possibility.

No one said he was specifically told "you will be the next Percy Harvin" but he expected a much bigger role than what he was given. It's easy to sit back and say that he sucked but our offense and QB play didn't help.

Wide receiver Russell Shepard had several nice catches, but the one that stuck out most was an awesome, contested grab over the cornerback down the sideline inside the 10-yard line. He has consistently shown proper catch technique with his hands away from his body, as well as solid route running to bait defenders and create separation. The undrafted rookie from LSU is another player who can take advantage of the opportunity that has opened up due to Jeremy Maclin's injury.

Not exactly. I wanted them to change the offense, period. It hasn't been good.

One of the big reasons he choose LSU was because they told him he would get a shot to play QB. Politically correct interviews after his recruitment dont change that. Every guy is going to use that line

Well you kind of implied it.

Roles are earned not given.

And im not saying he sucked and im not saying the QBs were good, but not putting any blame on him as a player is ridiculous too. He dropped some easy passes during his career and didnt get open that often when he got his opportunities

With that said if theres one thing we can all agree on its that Shep was a great leader on the team and i will respect him forever for that and wish him the best in his NFL career.

All told, Shepard has probably been the Eagles' most prolific wide receiver since he arrived at the NovaCare Complex following the NFL Draft. That's because he's been relentless about catching hundreds of extra balls following practice every day. The rookie is fully aware that he has a long way to go in his fight for a roster spot.

Too bad he didn't work like that when he was a tiger.

Our goal is to graduate players and get them to thr nfl.

Shep did that. Seems like he made the rt choice by switching to wr. His best chance at making the nfl. He just wasnt that good. But i will always pull for him.

Yet he was passed by 5 younger guys on the depth chart. I wonder why? Can you figure it out genius?

And you called me a rantard. Another moron comparing him Harvin. I wonder how many of our receivers would have passed Harvin on the depth chart
