Agreed. Numbers in college conference names/logos are idiotic.

And that Big 12 logo is particularly bad.

If you continue to call yourself the Big 12, half the people in the country will assume you still have 12 members....

It won't become the official logo until next summer. They need to give everyone time to update all their graphics and such. Logos end up on a lot of shite and having gone through a logo change with my company, it took us almost 2 years to get everything right without having to dump a bunch of old inventory (pens, letterhead, shirts, binders, banners, site signage, fricking endless list really)

But the conference is tied to a direction, and how "southeastern" are A&M, Arkansas, and Mizzou anyway?

(LSU, Tennessee, and Vandy are'nt that southeastern either, but they're charter members so they get a pass.)

If you draw an X/Y axis on the US, only Missouri falls outside the "Southeast", and even then they are close to it.

It seems the Southeastern Conference is slowly evolving into the SEC. I'd hardly be shocked that in 10-20 years they dump Southeastern altogether as it's rarely said any more. It's a fairly easy evolution and it may already be planned as we no longer spell out the name on the logo and that changed relatively recently. From 1992 til 2007 this was the official logo

It seems the Pac is doing the same as nothing says Pacific-12 Conference, which is their official name. They have essentially dropped Pacific and solely use Pac. This would be more of an issue had the Pac-16 idea come to fruition with midwest teams playing in a Pacific labeled conference. It seems both conferences have positioned themselves to officially change the name, should it ever become ridiculous like the Big 10 and Big 12 have become, and do so in a way that won't harm the brand at all.

You mean the UT logo isn't the league logo?
