I'm sure he doesn't like being the Sam Bowie of his generation. Beating Durant to a ring would no doubt help him feel like he righted his world.

Did we even sit down with him? Did we just go there, watch him work out and leave?

I'm pretty sure Oden and Monty have spoken during this process lol. Monty being busy with Team USA is not going to hurt us here.

I keep hearing this, and I know the lights are bright in Miami, but won't the media/some pressure follow Oden wherever?

It doesn't seem like a legit factor in the decision to me...if he's ready to play, why does he care about the pressure?

...not to mention the Heat are gonna win a lot of games with or without him. doesn't being on a team like that that can mask your deficiencies reduce pressure in a lot of ways?

JMO...would love to get Oden, but it seems like he's a Heat lock.

There will be media questions his rehab, etc. wherever he goes but it's a much greater scrutiny if he goes to Miami as he's going to a championship team and they'll expect him to perform right away.

why?

They have proven that they can win championships without him. He's a luxury for them...they could sit him all season and save him for the playoffs if they wanted to...don't see how there's added pressure for him there.

Wouldn't Oden cost the Heat a lot of money because of the luxury tax? I would not think they would take such a risk.

I'm not buying it. Marc Spears never said anything about Miami having the lead

Meh to all of this. I'm all in for making an offer, but if we don't get him no big deal.

NBA free-agent center Greg Oden will decide next week where to sign, a league source told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.

Oden, 25, has received varying contract offers from the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks, a source said. All deals are pending Oden passing a physical.

Oden worked out and rehabbed in front of the Kings, Pelicans and Heat in his hometown of Indianapolis on Tuesday. The 90-minute session included drill work, post play and running.

"He's coming along," said one scout who attended the workout. "Good to see him out there working.”

Greg Oden went through a two-hour workout Tuesday in Indianapolis in front of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, new Sacramento Kings general manager Pete D'Alessandro and representatives from the New Orleans Pelicans, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources told ESPN that Oden will put his skills on display again Thursday for Atlanta Hawks officials before sitting down for his long-anticipated private meeting with the Pelicans later this week in Las Vegas.

..."It went well," the source told ESPN about the workouts. "He did a ton of agility stuff, ran suicides and also did drills on the court."

Sources maintain that Miami and San Antonio, fresh off dueling in the NBA Finals, are still positioned as the co-favorites for Oden's services.

Atlanta being in the mix is interesting. They have over $5 million in cap space so can outbid everyone left by a significant amount. That either means Oden is looking health enough to get more money, or Oden's Agents are leveraging Atlanta against the only team that seems likely to give less than it's best possible offer, the Heat. If the Pelicans have a chance it really is on Monty to sell Oden. Fortunately it looks like Monty will get the last sales pitch.

Wait. What happened to all these players telling Monty to keep them in mind?

He should be selling himself to Monty, no?

Anthony Morrow, and I'm only half kidding. Monty's comments about him in the Joel Meyers interview made me think he could possibly be one of the guys that told Monty to keep him in mind. We always figured it'd be that level of player.

In a sense that's what all these workouts and interviews are for. A 2nd guaranteed year that's a player option will probably only be offered by the Pelicans and maybe Kings. Oden has to sell Monty that he's worth that risk.
