re: Moto X press shots leaked ahead of August 1st announcement

Yeah, Nexus 4 was unveiled Oct 29th so should be somewhere around there.

So far all that has leaked on the Nexus 5 is a 5.2" 1080p display, Nikon camera, Snapdragon S800, and one leak had 2.5GB of RAM the others have 3GB of RAM.

May have the best camera ever in a phone, if Nikon delivers high quality on it's camera.

quote:

Phonearena reports that according to a source, the next Nexus will have Nikon camera technology on board, with a “triple sensor” array. The camera is being referred to as the “selling point” of the Nexus 5, the source claims.

Nikon camera on the Nexus 5 was confirmed by Google VP Vic Gundotra just a few days ago.

What benchmarking tool is that?

Got lots of phones I'd love to use that on

Those of you comparing the Moto X to the Nexus need to just stop. It's not intended to compete with the big boys...

I never mentioned anything about the Nexus 4 until UHog came and said this: "So it's running vanilla Android and is worse spec wise than my Nexus 4? Lol."

While the Moto X may not out-spec the Nexus 4 in every department, I am going to go out on a limb and say that an average user will not find any difference in speeds in daily use between the Moto X and the Nexus 4. It will take better pictures than the Nexus 4 and the battery will probably last longer. The Moto X will also come with other new features that you can't get on the current Nexus devices. I can't think of a single reason one would get a Nexus 4 today versus the Moto X. When the Nexus 5 comes out, it is a whole different story.

p.s. How is your little one? Hope everything is well...

There's a 4,000 point difference in benchmark scores, there will most definitely be a noticeable difference between a dual core and a quad core processor and different RAM speeds.

Especially when running multiple applications, roms, widgets, and all the other tweaks that come with buying a phone from Google.

Faster, sexier, better screen, can record 1080p HD video at 30fps while the X can only record 720p.

The recording factor is actually pretty much with how many people use a camera more for video than pictures these days, youtube uploads and instagram/vine video, etc.

Not to argue with you that the specs on the 4 (although you can't argue that the 4 was at least a slight failure for Google....probably predicated by the massive suckage that was the Galaxy Nexus....the 5 if they do it right should hit the sweet spot) aren't better than the X.....but the above statement probably isn't fact based for 90% of smart phone users.

When you use 2 graphics cards on your PC the benchmark "shoots" up as well, but in real life situations the benchmark is not true to the actual situation. Benchmarks are accurate in seeing a small snapshot of what is under the hood - it is NOT however a good tool to see how well the device will actually run things.

Look no farther than the thread on the GB about running two 6000 GPUs, your benchmark will show you thousands of points over a single 7000... yet you know what? In real world experience, the benchmark is complete trash.

Stop throwing around Benchmarks as the end all be all, benchmarks can not tell how well a processor runs with the experience, it can just stress test the processor itself, it's a stupid comparison, and once the moto x comes out there will be at least 1 or 2 benchmarks that come out that are optimized for the moto x and will actually show the moto x ahead of the nexus 4.

Stop being ignorant and basing every single one of your decisions off of a "tool" that has never been 100% accurate, even on windows, which the tool has been on for over 10 years!

P.S: I would buy the Moto X over the Nexus 4 at this point simply because of the price point, it being built in the U.S, and it running on the new re-branded Google Motorola

I'm not even saying the Nexus 4 "isn't" better than the Moto X.. but seriously, stop using benchmarks as your "god tool" .. all the benchmark tells me is that the nexus is running a quad-core while the moto is running a dual-core - and the benchmark see the extra speed in the extra cores.. and can't even test for optimization in any way.

The Galaxy S4 probably beats the iPhone 5 by thousands of points to in some benchmark test. But guess what, when it comes to regular use the iPhone 5 still offers a much smoother and fluid experience than the S4. Folks still complain about stutter on the S4 despite all that power under the hood. Benchmarks are not the end all be all of smartphone evaluation.

Lol. The Nexus 4 is widely panned to have one of the worst cameras on a smartphone from that generation. Way to again hone in on the 1080p number and completely disregard the crappy camera that is on your Nexus 4 that takes horrible pictures, especially indoors. If you think people take more videos than pictures on their cell phones, I don't know what to tell you.

You don't want to believe me when I say that the Moto X will be a better phone than the N4 when it is released? Just wait till the reviews come out.

They aren't the end all be all for PC evaluation.. smartphone evaluation.. any evaluation, they are simply a snapshot.. a benched"mark" if you will

I am a nexus 4 user and I've been happy with it for the 4 months that I've had it.

I am not your android power user though.

You can't be serious.

A mid level phone over a high end phone?

Moto X camera can't even record in 1080p and you wanna talk about shitty cameras?

Oh and the Nexus 4 has a 9.6 user score on PA, sorry but no mid level Moto branded phone is coming close to that.

The Nexus 4 is still 8 months later one of the best phones on the market for a reason.

Come on hog.. let's be friends here. I was a lucky one who got a N4 10 minutes before they went on sale but I dig this phone for my wife.

Why hate on another android device?

How am I hating on it?

I said it's a mid level device, which is what every website and Google themselves are calling it because that is what it is and targeted for.

Comparing it to Google's high end flagship device is stupid.
