re: Would you prefer to play Florida every year if you had the choice?

I don't really care that LSU play any particular team from the East in any given year - our traditional rival is Ole Miss and Texas A&M (and recently Alabama), but if there must be a set game with a East team every year, then it seems to make sense that Florida would be it; UF is the closest proximate campus to LSU among the Eastern Division schools.

You ever heard of Nashville, Tennessee?

Only if Bama would have to play Florida & GA on alternating years.

I like the Florida game. It's difficult to resist the urge to pass judgment on our schedule relative to Bama's, but not that long ago Tennessee was a powerhouse. Things change in CFB -- let's not frick with tradition because we think things are a little difficult right now.

Yes, it's where Vanderbilt is, and it's almost exactly the same distance from Baton Rouge as Gainesville. Same-Same, both are the closest Eastern Conference campuses to LSU.

Vanderbilt is closer by 2 miles
591 miles from BR

I like UF every year. To be the best you should have to beat the best.
Bama is staying on the schedule regardless. So this be the best, beat the best is garbage. Not to mention USC and UGA have plenty to say about being the best.

Depends on which part of BR you're coming from.
Argument continues.

it's a fun game to watch but UF should be on rotation like all the other teams from the east.

very mixed feelings
I love the Florida/LSU series. I feel like it is a premiere game that brings a lot of great exposure to both programs and makes for a compelling national television event every year. In a recruiting sense it helps LSU a lot as well (national exposure and recruiting Florida).
The down side can be real as well tho in the years that LSU gets both Florida and another excellent team from the East while Bama/A&M/Auburn ends up with a weaker cross division slate there's a real competitive disadvantage that hurts LSU's larger goals of winning the SEC and a NC

id rather play usc or uga. i like playing uf, but i hate gainesville. its a dump and will never go back.
But the best way to do it is rotate. gives the players a chance to play every sec team in their already short college careers. Could you imagine playing for uf and never getting a chance to play LSU?

Good Lord we are giving this Florida troll a lot of bullshite answers.
No, we don't want to play Florida every year. I think that has been obvious.

I fricking love the Florida game, but I don't get why we have to play them every year.
I'd have no problem playing them in the SEC championship every year.

lol ok, when the other best team in ur division plays teams that won one fricking sec game, it does matter.
if we played kentucky instead of uf, we win that game. we had 20+ players out fir that florida game. it does matter since division champions are crowned by ur overall sec record. not ur division record.

beating the best to be the best is horse shite also. we did that in 2011.
We play 3 recent bcs champions every year. we already play the best year in and year out. rotating the schedule wont change that.

With 8 games, they need to get rid of the "rival" games.
But, as I have said many times, I would like a 10 game SEC slate, so we could continue to play y'all every year, while being able to play everyone else often. It would also cut down on the vast differences in conference schedules.
