What is everyone's opinion on Micah Eugene?

He was the nickel all year last year and it seems he may lose his spot with all these taller studs coming in?

Eugene is a really good football player with no real position. He'll lose his nickel job to Tre White, IMO. Will be a huge contributor on ST.

Our defensive scheme depends on stellar CB play. Considering what we did last year with the youth at CB, I think we will be improved all around on defense this year.

I'd say Mills held his own most of last year.

Uhhhh I'd say more than that. As a true freshman he basically became our number 1 corner and was damn good at it. I dont fault him specifically for the meltdown the stretch, because everyone on defense was pretty bad. I look for him to be a star.
I wasn't too highly impressed with Collins, he made a few plays but wasn't spectacular. White/Robinson could easily nab that #2 spot so its pretty wide open after Mills IMO

Considering that both freshman outplayed Simon last year, I think we're in pretty good hands this year. I expect to see a lot of Corey Thompson this year too especially if Loston gets banged up again. White and Robinson are the heirs apparent to those positions in 2015 once Mills and Collins leave.

Barring injury, I don't see, but 1 FR seeing significant time at CB. All 3 will probably be special teams stars, but only the most ready will play. I think people are underestimating Collins and Holmes seemed to have a nice spring as well. We should be extremely deep at corner, though relatively inexperienced.

During the Ole Miss replay last night Simon and Collins were the CBs with Mills as the nickel in the slot. Eugene came in on obvious passing downs as that edge blitzer that Brooks used to do.

Why are you basing everything off of this one game?

The nickel position is going to be one to look at. Eugene did well last year, but we'll see if one of these younger guys can step in.

I'm not but looking at the last four games LSU gave up 304, 316, 359, and 346 through the air with 7 TDs. Not all on the secondary but looking back at these games they didn't perform all that well.

S: Loston
S: Martin
CB: Mills
CB: Collins

Nickel: Eugene
Dime: Add white or Brazil

I think white will end up passing up Collins kind of like Peterson in 2008.

Just take Collins scholly away and give it to someone else. Apparently he sucked last year as freshmen

In every one of those games we had a shitty pass rush.

Brazil might be a phenomenal nickle.

just a hunch...but he could very well develope into the next TM7. speed...savy...and excellent hands plus, by all accounts, he should be a major weapon in the return game. that is if we can force our opponents to punt every now and then....just kidding. I like and I can't wait to see what's going to shake out.

get better.
