He's made a few missteps recently. Hopefully he corrects them.

Thanks for that post.

It's making me think about a few things.

Good for Rand Paul. A little know fact is that evangelical blacks helped W win Ohio in 2004.

Yes. That's why I downgraded him from a previous "good job" to decent job. Luckily for him, these missteps are early. If he learns from these & moves forward without anything too gross he has a chance of controlling his own narrative. Just a chance.

Let's say he makes it to the general election, he may only get 10% of the black vote and 30% of the Latino vote however he will gain a lot of respect from the white guilt crowd and gain some of their votes. And if he runs against Hillary, Rand will compete well against her for the youth vote. This early minority outreach with a sustained effort going forward could put him over the top.

Assuming he doesn't morph into a neocon between now and 2016, I would vote for him over Hillary IF Ruth Bader Ginsburg retires by then. However, if Ginsburg refuses to leave before 2016, I'll have to go with Hillary. I wish Democrats would quit putting old and decrepit people on the SCOTUS and start putting youngsters on the court like Republicans do.

What is it about Rand - as he is now - that might make you choose him over Hillary?

Foreign policy, opposition to the police state (Patriot Act, NDAA, etc.), sincerity.

How do you think Hillary compares in those areas?

It's not Black or Latino voters he needs to worry about. It's dead, made-up, and multiple votes voters that he needs to be concerned with. The Democrats have that voting block on 100% lockdown.

Poorly. She still won't admit that she fricked up when she voted for the Iraq War.

What about her stance on NDAA & Patriot Act? Don't mean to grill you, I'm honestly trying to understand the comparison for someone who would otherwise vote for Hillary.

I suspect that Hillary would be more hawkish than Obama, and he's been a major disappointment in these areas. My problem with Romney is that he promised that he would be worse than Obama on foreign policy, so Obama was the lesser of evils. I believe Paul would reduce the amount of blowback that the U.S. is exposed to.

Ok. So what are Hillary's strengths that would sway you to vote for her? Also, would you mind telling me what your voting pattern has been in the past? Typically 1 party over the other?

You expect a career politician to admit a mistake?

I suspect that Hillary would be more hawkish than Obama

Jesus, I can't imagine what that would look like.

so Obama was the lesser of evils

How about not voting for either of them? Voting for the lesser evil still gets you evil.

I chose good in Gary Johnson.

I admire your conviction but couldn't bring myself to do it. I saw Romney as slightly less ominous as Obama and had to put my vote where I thought it had the best chance to beat Obama. I struggle with that though bc I believe the only way to a viable 3rd party is to show support where it counts - in the voting booth.

Honestly, the third debate was the last straw for me. They both basically sat down and agreed with each other on their neocon and hawkish foreign policy. I laughed and laughed at that.

Defense contractors and the military industrial complex were fapping hard that night.
