Hell he made allowed a great team talent wise to look like an average team last year.
You're right. Injuries and a new coach had nothing to do with it.

He was Lucky Gasol was so willing to come in there and accept his role and play it so well or Kobe wouldn't have gotten those last 2 titles.

Gasol was an all-star before going to the Lakers, but he never won a playoff game or got proclaimed as the best offensive big man in the NBA before moving to LA.

Of course his stats would go down when goes from #1 option to the #2/3 option behind Kobe and Bynum/Howard. Using Nelly's argument, Dwayne Wades stats have gone down, and it's due to Lebron not making those around him better

You give Shaq another all star to replace Kobe with and you bet your arse he does.

he had 2 backcourt all stars in van exel and eddie jones.

That is because Phil Jackson wasn't there yet when those guys played with Shaq. And Van excel only got an all star nod because he was on that team. No one would would consider him an all star player. The three years that Shaq led the Lakers to titles, he would have done so with Ray Allen instead of Kobe easily. And IMO they probably beat the Pistons for that 4th one.

That is because he never had a team around him in Memphis. He was a great player that was will to go to L.A. and be number 2 to Kobe. And do it so well that they won NBA titles.

What a load of horse shite. D Wade is getting older, not to mention Miami has 3 studs sharing the ball. I don't think ANYONE with half a brain would argue with Lebron makes the players around him better.

I said, "Using Nelly's argument" which I obviously don't agree with..

sounds like the same excuse Gasol could use, except Nelly said Gasol's stats got worse when he started playing with Kobe. The dude went on First Take and moved his arms all over the place and talked louder than Stephen A. and Skip (which is an accomplishment btw), but it doesn't mean that he had any substance to his arguments

The Lakers have been extremely fortunate in drafting once in a generation players in Magic and Kobe, along with their acquisitions of Kareem, Shaq, and to a lesser extent Pau, but who is the star that is going to go there and keep the franchise elite? Lebron ain't going to play with Kobe. Who else is capable of making that franchise dominant? Paul George? Melo? Those guys won't carry a team to a title.

The Melo in LA idea seems terrible to me since both Kobe and Melo are volume shooters.

Lebron to LA seems idiotic from Lebron's perspective. George or Kyrie to LA could happen I guess but with Pau and Kobe aging further that won't make them a championship caliber team next to teams like Houston or OKC

What does Gasol's stats have anything to do with what I said? Remember....all I said was that Kobe was very lucky Gasol was willing to come play the number 2 role and then him play it so well. I was only arguing your point about Wade that YOU made.

Pretty sure his point was that Kobe is such an a-hole that no one that is good enough, will go to L.A. and put up with his bullshite now to win a championship. I thought it was a very valid point.

Sorry I'm not really griping about you.. I was bringing up Gasol's stats and used the D-wade reference in response to what was said on the show. I responded to you bc you brought up Kobe was lucky that Gasol accepted the role. Its not like Gasol was going anywhere being the #1 option in Memphis anyways was my point

In todays NBA, you cant just have a good player come in, you need super stars. There were no super stars in this FA class besides Dwight. Come next year when there are big fish up for grabs and Lakers don't get one; then ill agree

Without having multiple All Star players and a dominate big man to hold his hand every step of the way, Kobe is nothing more than just a another chucking shooting guard. All Star caliber player no doubt, but an overrated chucker.

This is just nonsense. Kobe would be the greatest player in franchise history for almost every team in the NBA. Even if he plays in Milwaukee and wins 0 titles from '96-'13, he's probably a 30/5/5 45% FG career guy. On numbers alone he's an all time great.

I'd give you that, but he'd probably still be ringless.

If he were in Milwaukee his whole career it would be similar to that of Allen Iverson.

I think Kobe could've found a way to win one with a good supporting cast in the 2002-present era. Dirk and Wade both made it happen, but you're telling me Kobe, with the right team, doesn't get it done once?

So Kobe would have flamed out of the league years ago and gone broke? Aside from being half a foot taller, he and AI don't exactly resemble each other character wise
