how can you say this when a movie review is a completely subjective opinion someone put into words?

Recapping the opening scene and cataloging continuity errors is not subjective. Describing the ways that product placement are used is not subjective.

Can you give me an example of this that makes this movie so horrible?

Do you know anyone that puts an unopened can of Pepsi on their nightstand for when they wake up in the morning?

Actually, no. But I do know someone who does that with Diet Coke. Sad, I know, but I'm being completely honest.

However, why does this make the movie not enjoyable? Why does it bother you that much?

It's another instance, however small, of a lazy approach to filmmaking.

As I said earlier in the thread, I find it insulting that these guys expect us fans to fork over money to watch the schlock they aren't even putting any effort into.

Adam Sandler product placements are so atrocious that they actively affect the plot. Happy Gilmore was fine with Subway, but after that it gets sickening. I'd say the all-time low would probably be Popeyes Chicken in Little Nicky, with the Dunkin Donuts commercial with Al Pacino not being far behind. If a product placement directly affects the plot (aside from when the character is a sports figure), then it's a fricking scam that is trying to be a commercial first and a film second.

Did the ridiculous overload of product placement in Man of Steel upset you too?

I thought this was pretty bad.

I guess never really thought about it that much. It never made the movie not enjoyable for me. I get it though. I guess my expectations for a movie are less than that of you two, but I don't consider myself uneducated or a sheep. If we (the people who enjoy those movies) are entertained, who you are to judge what entertains us? (I'm not talk about the Kardashian shite...that just plain stupid)

I haven't seen that movie or read any reviews of it.

Well, in that instance it was germane to the concept of a professional athlete. For the time period, it was also a pretty clever take on product placement.

It was distracting, certainly, but not on the same level. Sure they had IHOP a lot in it, but they needed a diner scene, so why not have it take place in an IHOP? They wanted a gas station to blow up, so why not a 7/11?

The products in Adam Sandler films directly affect the plot though. The entire plot of Jack and Jill is getting Al Pacino into a Dunkin Donuts commercial, and they bring up Popeyes chicken in every other fricking scene in Little Nicky. It's sickening.

Well, I honestly don't see a difference between them and their stupidity levels.

Jesus this ole piss fan is miserable little fricker. Little Nicky was hilarious, Popeye's Chicken is the shiznit, and you are a miserable bag of hairy countnuggets.

Got around to seeing GU2 earlier today and will post my thoughts later.

Pacific Rim cost $190 million to make and only made 38 million in the US and 53 worldwide. Is it a bust? The box office earnings will only go down.

Pacific rim did such a poor job of marketing. I had no idea wtf it was supposed to be about, and there was no hype about it prior to a couple weeks before.

This seems to be the type of movie they should have went JJ Abrams with hyping it a year in advance and they could have done something.

Saw GU2 last night. After watching The Heat, which was very funny btw, noticed GU2 was about to start in the theater across from mine, so I just walked in. There were some funny moments but a lot of the jokes just fell flat. I commented to myself several times that it was just bad. It did improve some near the end. All in all, worth the $0 I paid to see it.

Wow, moved on from general flaming to pretty severe personal attacks quickly.
