Karma is apparently a real nasty bitch. Tell your buddy to have fun catching 2# bass the rest of the year.

Thats the thing though. He doesn't fish that often. And naturally people that don't hunt and fish much alot of times get the biggest game.

Anything 3 lbs plus should have a pic taken with it and released. Keep all the 12 inchers you want.
Mount your first over 6/7 lbs

I'm still waiting on my good Karma for reluctantly releasing all the half pounders that I catch.

That's a standard 13x18x1 pan. That fish was likely 22-23 inches before he was Dahmered. 6.5-7# more likely.

But you won't hear me bitching about a fella eating a fish he caught. My ol lady gets pissed when I come home drunk from fishing and don't have fish to show for it. Gotta bring something home besides a sunburn and a buzz. Nice bass.

There's nothing wrong with removing bass for eating. A 1/2 to 1lb bass is very fine eating, and even up to a little over two they're still pretty damn tasty. However, it's moronic to keep a fish that size to eat. For one, it isn't going to taste great at that age. But the main issue is that you're removing the possibility of that fish passing on those genes to more fish that could potentially grow to that size in the future. Sorry your friend is an idiot.

Everybody knows a 7 pound bass is gonna be a 7 pound bass for life. Serious gene loss there.

Plus with a lil Tony's & corn mill I can make a 37 pound bass taste fantastic.

Bass are good to eat. There are millions of bass.
Remove one and another fills its niche. Releasing bass is often a crapshoot as far as its survival is concerned. Fish have more protein than red meat. Fish do not feel pain.
Release bass if it makes you feel good, you may catch it again.
