I'll try to finish it tonight but I honestly did not like it. Dramas are just not for me...but I absolutely love Breaking Bad.

what's behind that locked door?

Only one possible conclusion. Heisenberg is behind the locked door.

Just got finished watching.

Wasn't sure what was behind the door until I read this thread. Now I'm convinced its a Underground Railroad.

Still not sure about the creepy guy.

Asperger Syndrome:A lack of demonstrated empathy has a significant impact on aspects of communal living for persons with Asperger syndrome.[2] Individuals with AS experience difficulties in basic elements of social interaction, which may include a failure to develop friendships or to seek shared enjoyments or achievements with others (for example, sho somewing others objects of interest), a lack of social or emotional reciprocity (social "games" give-and-take mechanic), and impaired nonverbal behaviors in areas such as eye contact, facial expression, posture, and gesture.

To me it seems very apparent they want the character to have some sort of social disorder

That makes sense. Maybe the horse wife is her sister.

I have a family member with Asperger's and some of the quirks you see in the show do lineup with their behavior, so if that's what the writers are going for they did a fairly decent job of portraying it.

The dead sister?

Or the lady who LOOKED HER RIGHT IN THE FACE and tried to bribe her to cross the border with ambulance?

Gotta say, both options seem pretty unlikely

ETA: just found this.....

quote:

It's based on a Scandinavian hit, "Bron/Broen"

quote:

aside from being a woman – there are a few female anti-heroes as well – Sonya defies the archetype in a number of other ways. A detective in Texas, Cross is committed to the law and doing good; she is a rule-follower to a fault (in the first episode, she refuses to let ambulance carrying a critically ill man across a crime scene, lest it disrupt evidence)

quote:

But more importantly, she is cold, blunt and socially shut off. She is not charismatic like Tony Soprano, charming like Francis Underwood or smooth like Don Draper. And while it's not directly made clear in the first few episodes (to the frustration of some critics), Sonya has Asperger's Syndrome, which sits on the autism spectrum, a trait borrowed from "Bron/Broen."

quote:

"I was very confused and a little thrown off by Sonya, I didn't know if I like her or what was her deal," Diane Kruger, who plays Sonya, tells U.S. News. "By episode three, I thought she was one of the coolest characters I'd seen on television."

As for "starting slow" I'm not really sure that was even the case, but i felt the first few episodes of the Americans took a while to get going, and i think it turned out to be the one of the very best from last year.

I thought the show was really good. The Asperger thing throws a monkey wrench in the mix, really interested to see how this show progresses.

Watched it last night and I have to say I like the storyline of the show but it is kind of "slow". And while it's still very premature, I'm not too fond of the actors right now. They kind of bore me. With that said, I felt the same way about Hannibal but that show grew on me real fast... so I'll definitely give it the benefit of the doubt and catch more episodes.

It's the off season for shows anyways so might as well give it a chance. I don't have anything else to watch.

Just watched this yesterday and it was pretty meh. Will give it a few more weeks to see where it goes. I can easily see the main character getting on my nerves big time though. They might need to tone that down a bit. A few other things annoyed me like the cliche captain with the big cowboy hat. I also cant stand how in shows characters will go from speaking english to spanish from sentence to sentence sometimes. If it's spanish just go with it and use subtitles.

So the chick just straight up ask the dude at the bar if he wants sex? Damn, I wished it was that easy.
