I actually saw someone say losing Dwight and getting Kaman made the Lakers a better team.

I think we have a much better locker room minus Dwight. That can often translate to better chemistry and more wins

Isn't this the best year possible to just start rebuilding instead of squeezing out a few more wins?

Next year's draft is supposedly incredible in the top 7 picks. Kobe is out hurt.

Trade Pau. Amnesty Kobe or Artest and be well on your way to rebuilding in early 2014

One down year and then the free agency season is theirs.

You also added a bad defensive center to an already terrible defensive team.

Kaman on the Top 10 list of Ugliest Athletes of All Time FWIW.
He's not that ugly when he doesn't have dirty, long arse hair while he's balding on top, or an ugly mountain man beard with thinning hair on top.

When he shaves and cuts his hair, he looks like a normal dude.

I will never forget what Charles Barkley did one time.

It was the playoffs, back when the Clippers had Brand and Kaman. Kaman had been playing really well. I think he had been averaging a double-double.

Anyways, they were showing Kaman doing some pre-game shots. The camera focused on Kaman's face. All of the sudden, you hear Charles say, "Those must be some ugly kids." (This was when Kaman had that nasty long hair while he was balding up top)

Ernie's response was hilarious. He said, "CHARLES!!!!!!!"

To this day, it makes me laugh when I think about it.

We are rebuilding. Next offseason EVERYONE on the team except for Steve Nash is a free agent. We will resign Kobe (tho even that scares me bc of Jim Buss) and add either Lebron (unlikely), Melo (probable) or Paul George. Also think we will push hard for Kyrie Irving or John Wall along with Kevin Love once they open up

right, so the year after this is the year when a new team starts to take shape... why screw up the 2014 draft pick when the 2013-2014 season won't end up in a championship?

this is the perfect year to suck and maybe even get a top 3 pick in the draft. Without Pau, Kobe, and Howard the Lakers will be terrible

It feels like the team is trying to pick up parts and will allow Kobe to come back too quick this year... none of this makes any sense if their goal is to compete for a championship in 2014-2016

Per 36 stats from last year:

Kaman: 18.3 points, (on 51% shooting), 9.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 assists....PLUS 79% free throw shooter

Dwight: 17.1 points, (on 58% shooting), 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.4 assists....PLUS 49% free throw shooter

Championship

Lakers are above tanking. Outside of Magic and Kobe we've never drafted our way into a new era

Yes, pretty unlikely.

Melo (probable)

Why would Melo leave NY? That's a lateral move at best market wise and probably going to a worse team in a harder conference to just make the playoffs.

Paul George

He is a RESTRICTED Free Agent and I guarantee Indy matches.

The Lakers will probably end up rebuilding around Rudy Gay and it will be enjoyably bad.
