I like how Chimes/Chimes East have gone 100% to beermenus.com, and print them out every update

Yep. And they are updating constantly. PH subscribes to the once-a-month update theory. But they can update what band is playing 3 times a day.

The paper menus are tough because they aren't always up to date

Had this fun at Bulldog last night. Bar fairly crowded, ask for beer menu, take to table, study a bit-started out oh for 5. Nothing chalked in appealed to me. Finally a different bartender stepped in and asked me what style I was interested in (what a concept) and brought me two to taste. Neither were on the chalkboard or the printed menu. Ended up drinking a couple of one of the ones she brought. I guess I'm going to have to start bringing my tarot cards or drinking with Madam Cleo to know what my choices are.

Agree with beermenus. If you are going to be a tap room, with multiple taps, you will always have rotating taps. Having 1 beer menu printed when they opened 6 months ago doesn't do shite.

I've been to PH twice. Once on a friday night. The vibe is just weird and uncomfortable. It feels like i'm drinking beer in a chili's. I get that it was a maccaroni grill, but it still feels like a maccaroni grill. The bars are also setup in a way to where squatters block you out at all times. Make the bar more accessible. And throw in some sort of bar games or something. The place just feels forced, like another person has said. Also, their beer choices aren't nothing special. I can get a better and more unique selection from the cove.
Also, their pork belly sandwich is entirely too expensive for being that mediocre.

Again, I say, put the big screens on the walls with the tap selection. You can read them without standing at the bar and blocking everyone. The screen will tell you the beer, brewery, ABV, IBU, and percent remaining in the keg (so you might decide to get one last Endeavor before the keg runs out).

I have been to a number of places that have these, and it's genious. You can also list the kegs that are on deck and about to be tapped. It's great.

Someone mentioned a chalkboard. That works for 10 taps or less, but after that, I think it gets cumbersome...

Jax, the more you give us insight to the challenges you face the deeper the green gets. I'm kicking myself that I spent a week in Portland in the winehead, pre-maven days. I'm liking your idea of an FBD road trip up the more and more. The TV screen idea sounds like a simple yet elegant solution to the stained paper menus we are passing around.

Yeah, The Bulldog uses that and doesn't always update often
