Yeah. That's bad. It seems these guys have a real limited knowledge of running food/bar businesses.

Very tacky IMO.

Doesn't make any sense besides being a money grubbing movie.

I know those fellas had to leverage some hefty debt or drop heavy cash to open, and hate to see anybody fail, but I just don't see their current model sustaining.
Time will tell.

IMO they spent way too much money in remodeling the place with little benefit. They should have just used most of the old design and modified it to look like an old abbey beer place. This would have looked much better than the airport lounge look.

For the life of me I can't figure out the BR bar scene. It's a shite show.

So now PH makes you purchase an entree to order the limited release Parish? WTF?

How much cheaper can you get.

Yep, after the last 2 days, especially tonight, I'm pretty much done with the place.

$37.50 for lunch yesterday. I had a burger, the vanilla bourbon barley side, a Ruin Ten, and an Envie. frick that!

And the money grubbing move tonight really pissed me off.

I'm done. I really see no reason for me to support the place any longer.

Geez, I wish the Bulldog would go non-smoking.

I'm just gonna hope that the Chimes new beer concept comes to fruition soon. That is my kind of place.

I'm tired of every faux-manager coming up to me every 3 minutes at Pelican House to ask me if everything is OK. Leave me the frick alone and let me drink a beer. And, no, it's not OK. You pissed off a bunch of beer nerds with your stunt tonight as well as the brewery whose beer you had on cask. Congratulations.

Yeah, I didn't know they were going to pull that food deal and make you buy cerviche. Although I was pleased they turned down the lighting and all the TVs were in HD.

I was just thinking about this when I saw that the new Les Bon Temps is trying to call itself an "ultra lounge" and has light-up "VIP booths".. and it's in a strip mall next to a fruit stand..

Wow. I was trying to think what the place reminded me of. Spot on.

Yup, we decided to go give the Parish beer a try, but when I heard it had to be paired with the ceviche entree we went to Bulldog instead. Enjoyed a couple RuinTens and a pitcher of Timber Beast, for less than B's lunch tab the other day.

And Pelican House has forced the Cove to get competitive with their beer pricing... it's downright cheap now if you stick to the sale menu.

Yes, $4 Saison Dupont $4 Pluot and 2 casks was only $16.75 I think.

I need to visit the Cove more often.... Ascension Parish needs something because I hate driving to BR and then having to drive home

I know that feel, but craft beer is not a hot commodity out here and people are willing to travel to BR. I think if a good sports bar that carried some good craft rotating taps opened up in between PVille and Gonzo, they'd make a killing.

Eta

And after this stunt, I probably won't be visiting Pelican House anymore either. It was already expensive, but I wanted to support a good craft beer bar.. turns out it's not so good. Bulldog it is! Can always just sit outside to avoid the smoke.

Nope and I think that is exactly what they did.

Good job Pelican House.

I'll just spend more time at Bulldog and The Cove.

The location for what they are trying to be is just awful.

Pelican House frustration has really reached a flashpoint.

That escalated quickly.

It's a bar that has all of the potential in the world and fails to beat competition on just about every level.
