but it's only a matter of time before the Lakers get their shite together.
There's no guarantee that Jim Buss knows what he's doing.

The Lakers have one of the best post players in the game in Pau Gasol, and they never use him to their advantage in the offense. Why? It doesn't even make sense.

They used him a lot, but also had Bynum to appease. Bynum was good enough in the post to justify touches.

To me, there were two mistakes the Lakers have made since their title in 08:

signing Artest
trading Odom

The Odom trade was terrible, but without Artest they probably don't win a 2nd title.

Why is that? Ariza brings everything of value to the Lakers that Artest brings to them.

Because Artest bailed Kobe out in game 7. Without him Boston wins.

I don't think they resigned Artest, they just gave him a 5 yr deal initially in 09 (which was really retarded, probably only needed to give him 3 yes to get him)

My memory could be off though

or I could say with Perkins, Boston wins. That's just jumping to the endgame and saying it would all be equal. Who is to say Pierce or Allen or Rondo would be nearly as effective with a longer Ariza guarding them?

The Lakers would have been a better team with younger, quicker, longer Ariza than Artest.

You are right. He signed for a 5 yr full MLE contract. I don't remember, but I'd guess they had to give him the full 5 years to make him sign. He probably had better offers on worse teams.
