Davis had a decent rookie year? Wow.
yep
14ppg 8rpg 2bpg 52% from the field in 29mpg is decent.

Is there enough space to continue to add the pieces to make them upper tier?
Well they are banking on natural improvements from guys so young. Plus, right now what do they need outside of time, more shooting, and another backup big? One of those cant be bought and the other 2 can be found quite cheaply.
But the players and their deals give the team flexibility. Say a blue chipper is available, a Pels package would be stout. Or the pieces just dont fit, they can use assets to reconfigure the team.
Yeah, I guess the better question is are these pieces enough?
We have to bank on Davis being a superstar (I can believe in that).
We have to bank on Gordon being an upper-tier SG (not sure I believe in this).
We have to bank on Evans being a super sub (I can buy this).
We need Jrue to be very good.
The rest we need solid contributions.
These guys should get better, but I'm not sure it's to the level where we'll be an OKC/SA/Miami/Boston (in their run) good.

Yeah. Very fair question. The roster is highly unorthodox. The top 8 guys are combo guards or hybrid 4s- with differing skill sets though.
System is going to vital.

You can also look at Evans as Gordon insurance. If Gordon is anything less than a star player trade him. Obviously he needs to stay healthy to be tradeable, but if he's healthy and not living up to the hype trade him for spare parts and let Tyreke start.

I hate OKC for making people think rebuilding through the draft is a good idea
why? We're doing things the other way while others are trying to follow that model...i.e. Boston

If the Pelicans get another two players, say Brewer and a decent rebounding/defensive center, I don't think they are that much different from a team like the Nuggets from last season. They finished 3rd in the west.

I do like that flexibility he offers.
And I still don't think it's out of the realm of possibility Gordon is moved before the season.

The nuggets have the best home court advantage in the league and play at a pace that maximizes their athleticism. Monty / Pelicans were dead last in possessions per game.

With the change in roster, I'm guessing there will be some sort of change in system. Maybe I'm wrong on that point, but I'd think you would want a system that matches the player's strengths.

Our athleticism has improved tenfold tho
On a defensive rebound we'll have 3 guys we can outlet the ball to get out and run.
Evans and Gordon are good rim finishers, Holliday isn't bad himself. And AD runs like a deer
Last year you had Vazquez pushing the pace with Aminu and roger mason running with hkm

Holding the ball for 23 seconds is pushing the pace?
