Been there but not directly. If you're interested in seeing ITALY I can offer some suggestions.... Don't know shite about cars.

Pompeii is a must see. That and the Amalfi Coast is a day trip and definitely worth it. Take the train South from Rome... about a two hour ride in and out

Well it's a crowd that would be going. I, myself, am most interested in the cars the fine state of Italy produces...the finest in the world. Rest of the crowd though...probably not as interested. Then again, they are most connected to the boat, so they would be most interested in the connecting towns and possibly meeting the locals.

This is long term plans...just feeling things out.

How many of your friends are going to check out the Lambo museum and wonder why there are tractors there?

If you want to mix in with the locals, you should definitely visit Napoli. Outdoor concerts in the neighborhoods every night, very sociable people, markets full of FRESH produce. If I weren't grounded in BR, this would be my home...lol. Just be careful when you try to cross the streets. These guys will run you over if you're not careful. Also, make sure you take the side streets while you're going to destination. That's where you'll really experience locale Italy.

Since I have little time to plan I am looking at tours right now. The SO and I are no longer so I'm trying to avoid that single supplement.

More like a statement I guess. I usually hate to do any kind of organized trip but my planning time kind of forces me.

Damn...I'm confused. Is this a two partner or two-part question?

PS: I don't care. Just need to know who my audience is. Lol

Rome and Florence are really fun to go to. But I personally found Orvietto to be the best place to visit. It is a beautiful place. Would go back there if I ever get a chance

Must see Rome, Venice, Florence and Tuscany. If you can extend the trip I would stay 3 nights in each location. Drive yourself to each location and enjoy the adventure. Love love love Italy!

You can see a stupid car anywhere in the world. The Colloseum, Pantheon, etc aren't very mobile.

You seriously need to reconsider your reasons for going. Go see Danny the Count in Vegas and send the rest of your group to Italy.

Do NOT go to the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums/factories. Do NOT go to Pisa.

Do go to Cinque Terre. Do go to Venice. Do go to Rome. Do go to the Vatican. Do go to Florence. Do go to Pompeii.

What in the world did you find enjoyable about Pisa? That place is a complete waste of a day.
