It's baseball though. Load that roster with jucos(get LSU-E and Delgado on speed dial) to turnover that roster in a couple years.

I'm sure they will and that will get them better, but they're not getting the best LSU-E/Delgado guys or even the 2nd tier guys, so they'll only improve marginally.

I think it's a safe bet they will catch or pass everyone but ULL and LSU....

curious to see who will be on his staff... hearing all kinds of stuff right now....

Obviously not but just solid starters from good juco programs is gonna be improvement on the crap they've got now.

There is enough leftover talent in NOLA metro, river parishes, and BR to field a decent team at UNO. A lot of that talent goes JUCO though in hopes of landing at a big school, though.

Maestri is a douchebag. UNO can pickup some decent players in the area but they'll be a far cry from good for a while.

He's too old to put the energy needed to turn it around

He needs to get Bully back on staff

Maestri is 72 yrs old & there is no way he can keep up with the daily grind of basically building a program from scratch. As well, he won't have the energy that it takes today to recruit. Back in his hayday, he really had the state to himself, then Bertman came along. But now he has ULLLLL, S.E. Tulane to some extent, & even McNeese is ahead of the UNO baseball program. But as a HC back in his days, he was one of the most feisty, aggravating to opposing teams/coaches coaches in college baseball at the time. Reminded me a lot of Polk when Polk was his old arrogant self.
