So can I. And I do that on a daily basis, as does just about every other person in America.

The reasons I listed for hating the show have nothing to do with politics. Yes, I mocked the show for its leftism, but the reasons I stated for hating the show are that it's pretentious, self-important, heavy handed, and as subtle as a fundamentalist preacher's sermons.

My nephew's redneck wife, who I guarantee you has an IQ in double digits, told me its her favorite show on TV. 'Nuff said.

lol...I mean if you want to compare audiences I am reasonable sure I can find just as many people in the high iq types and low iq types who watch just about any television program.

I'm not sure low iq types watch a show like Mad Men. Metaphors, imagery are abundant in that show, plus it's a character driven, not plot driven show.In addition to the lack of violence makes the show hard to watch for the feeble minded.

I would say The Wire, but that show had violence and a ton of black people. When BET edits out the white characters to play to it's own viewers, you know the IQ level varies(much like why people differ on their views of The Wire).

Breaking Bad also falls into this problem. Literally the very first guy I know to start watching BB is because it was about meth. No lie the guy looks just like this guy on the show:

My nephew's wife is more the "Monster Truck" type, or that Jersey Shore TV show with Snooki. She likes that too. But her favorite is "The Newsroom". Says it's the best show on TV.

We tried to watch it. I enjoyed the episode with them trapped on the airplane.

What turns me off is the characters have an amazing lack of self awareness. Couple that with the preachiness, the staccato style conversations, the fake anxiety/drama in each episode and I lost interest and quit watching

When you hear Dennis Miller, SVP & Russillo or Dan Patrick it is readily apparent that certain media types are very self aware. they constantly make fun of each other and themselves and it is charming. There is nothing charming about Newsroom. It feels like Sorkin believes if he makes his characters self aware then he somehow diminishes their impact but i think he misses the boat. if he makes his characters more real, then their successes and failures and angst become more real to us too.

I enjoyed it more at the end of the season. They need more character development and interaction and less liberal propaganda. Maybe since Obama won they can calm that shite a little. Quit pretending like he is this huge republican when every point he makes is so far left its ridiculous. I checked into several of the claims they made and its stretching the truth at best. Either attack both sides if you're the TRUTH news or don't report at all.

blah.. I was looking forward to watching this show sometime, I loved the West Wing, I'll probably like it more than the Rex's or L.A's of this world, but I'm hoping I get more than "just more" out of it.

Then again I'm slightly anarchist in my feelings towards the US, so there IS that.

I feel like I gave it a legit shot. Really enjoyed the first episode and thought the concept was good. Thought the second episode was good, but not as good as the first one. The third episode was just okay and at that point I decided it wasn't worth investing my time into it. I like too many other shows to mess with "the Newsroom."

I think it largely came down to the fact that I never felt like I was watching a behind the scenes look at the news. I felt like I was watching a TV show about what goes on behind the scenes on news channels. If that makes any sense. I had no suspension of disbelief.

Can't stand the show. Writing is terrible (probably why they all got fired).

I like the idea of the show. However, they showed that they lack any ability to comprehend the view points they are trying to criticize.

I lost al faith in the show when they were criticizing a governor for campaigning to fight for bringing jobs to his citizens, while simultaneously fighting against unions. Showed a complete lack of interest in even trying to learn the other side's argument.
