Who pays for the costs to operate the facility and health care costs? It sounds to me like either the state or John Q. Public. I doubt Jindal agrees to spend state funds for this and I'm 100% against John Q. Public's monies used for this.

You sound like a miserable a-hole. Obviously someone has to pay for it, and I'm sure the details will be forthcoming. But goddamn if there's one frickin thing the state/public (is there even a difference?) should want to pay for it's hospitals for kids.

Maybe it's just bc I have a disabled 2yr old and it's a real issue for me. FWIW I'm one of those hard working tax payers who is in the process of relocating to Houston in large part bc of he superior children's hospital there.

But do go on with your childish bullshite.

no major medical in the '60's. 14yr old brother gets cancer. NO louisiana hospital to help. we go to md anderson in tx. dad goes $500k in debt to save his son's life. son dies. professional dad lives near poverty over 10 yrs to pay off debt.
i do hope you are fabulous rich, b/c that non-compassionate attitude is your bad karma.

i do congratulate your success but if you are a kid that was born into wealth, then, yes, i understand your republican-frick the poor attitude.

of course, you could move to texas or fl w/ no personal income tax. bye

I would happily contribute what I can, and encourage a man like Shaq to spearhead the marketing with both personal contributions and his name. If there is one thing that everyone should agree on it's healthcare for kids.

and GEAUX SHAQ!!!

PS: We need a Shaq emoticon! He deserves it!!!

This guy is Solid Gold!

He is firing a shot across the bow of other Big Ships, who want what we have in Shaq.

This is so positive for LSU, especially what he said about his development as a man, athlete and professional. But it will get the attention of others who are not sure where to do as Shaq did, now they know.

More than anything else, his goal is to help the least of our brothers and he is focusing on the young and vulnerable. This is a wise move by Shaquille O'Neal.

He's obviously never had the misfortune of having to spend time in children's hospitals.

Could it be some sort of charity/research children's hospital - funded from private donations?

So much ink is given to the players who get in all kinds of trouble.Shaq has been a breath of fresh air every since Coach Dale Brown brought him to LSU.Cudos to Shaq for having this dream even if it fails to come true.
