Why don't you just read up some on the matter

It's been well reported

Couldn't you just list one or two of the big doozies? It seems, if they are so egregious and so "well reported", you'd have no trouble reeling a couple off with ease.

re: Snowden on Snowden: "Shoot me in the balls"

You can start with his wiki page that lists particular disclosures so far

What is most vexing is the thousands of other documents he claims to have

quote:

Several officials warned the amount of compromised material may be much broader than even Snowden has suggested and that officials are not sure they know everything he may have pilfered. Another official said even the damage assessment won’t be finished for some time.
Among the chief concerns, according to those officials:
Technical Roadmap of the U.S. Surveillance Network
Before he fled Hawaii for Hong Kong in late May, Snowden allegedly downloaded significant amounts of information about some of the country’s most sensitive secrets — specifically how the U.S. government does surveillance abroad. One source told ABC News that as an information specialist with security clearance “he understood the framework of how the whole U.S. surveillance network works.”
In short, Snowden’s stolen material would help America’s adversaries understand how we use electronics to spy.
Another official said Snowden had access to a particularly important computer server in the government’s system “which contained ridiculous amounts of information” totaling hundreds of pages worth of secrets. He is suspected of storing stolen material on computers and making copies of documents. At risk is the effectiveness of billions of dollars worth of supercomputer and clandestine spying resources.
What Snowden May Know About Human Ops
Beyond technical systems, U.S. officials are deeply concerned that Snowden used his sensitive position to read about U.S. human assets, for example spies and informants overseas as well as safe houses and key spying centers.
They worry this recent quote from Snowden was not an exaggeration: ” I had access to the full rosters of everyone working at the NSA, the entire intelligence community, and undercover assets all over the world. The locations of every station, we have what their missions are, and so forth.”
So it’s not just about what he took, but what he knows, officials emphasize. Officials describe Snowden as a walking treasure trove, a dream for foreign intelligence services. One intelligence official called Snowden and his cache an “entire U.S. government problem.”
Known Damage Already
A senior intelligence official said: “The intelligence community is already seeing indications that several terrorist groups are in fact attempting to change their communication behaviors based on what they’re reading about our surveillance programs in the media.”
In an interview with CNN today, Secretary of State John Kerry said that “people may die as a consequence of what this man [Snowden] did.”
“It is possible that the United States will be attacked because terrorists may now know how to protect themselves in some way or another, that they didn’t know before,” he said.

Perhaps we was saying that to throw people off...perhaps he has felt all along that the government was overstepping its bounds, but didn't want to say that...after all, how would you gain access to classified info if you publicly previously criticized the government?

His claims of the info he has was made after he defected

quote:

” I had access to the full rosters of everyone working at the NSA, the entire intelligence community, and undercover assets all over the world. The locations of every station, we have what their missions are, and so forth.”

So a young guy changed his views over the course of 4 years. Breaking news there.

I probably wouldn't even recognize myself if I had a conversation about politics, social issues, money, etc with me 4 years ago.

We should always be open to change, especially at a young age. We should always be educating ourselves and learning through experience.

Perhaps after working for these people for a while he finally came to the realization that what they were doing was wrong.

Probably why he did it anonymously online

There's even an inconsistency here. He told Greenwald that he was thinking about leaking since 2008...well, that's a year before the quotes in the OP.

Who knows what this guy has really been thinking

The entire government has come down and used every little thing he has ever done to belittle him.

The entire government and media have come down to try to demonize him. And by media, I mean american media. You know the media I am talking about. The supposed watchdog of the government that is now the governments lapdog.

They say he may have stolen all kinds of things. He may decide to giver all this stuff to the communists, etc. Except none of this has happened. Yet.

Hell, if I knew what he did and was brave enough to give it all up because of the constitutionality of it was just crazy wrong, I would have taken a bit of insurance to protect myself against what is in effect the most totalitarian government the world has ever seen.

if he did it "anonymously", how do they know it is him? No one is truly anonymous on the internet...

serious question.

what difference does it make?

Does any of this change what has been released as far as the NSA spying on US citizens?
