do people actually look and check out other peoples watches?

I just use them to tell time

abso-fricking-lutely…. all my watches are from Target, or on-sale Kenneth Cole watches…. frick paying thousands of dollars for a thing that does the EXACT SAME thing that a cheaper time keeper does, which no one notices what kind of time keeper it is any fricking way….

pretentious people be pretentious….

watches are next to useless nowadays. People buy them as jewelry more than anything nowadays. I'm a man that doesn't wear jewelry, but if some other flamer wants to wear it I make no judgment on their blatant, perverted homosexuality.

re: Knock off Rolex watch?

There are different grades of fakes, some look darn good. I bought a knock off Panerai Luminor in China last year for about $100US. The thing looked amazing. I wore it to work and a Doc I worked with who is a watch aficionado notices it and says "you spent $7,500 on a watch?". To which I asked "was that too much?"

Anyhow, he was dying to have it and gave me $100 for it. Better part of 2 years later he still wears it from time to time and it still works fine. He often boasts about how many people he's fooled with it.

Milgauss is a great looking watch. If you aren't bothered wearing a fake, go for it. Just understand that it's a crapshoot as to how long it will work and how well it will keep time.

I notice the watch that I am wearing. I also notice the watches that others wear. I don't judge. I just think that it's interesting.

FWIW I don't have a multi-thousand dollar watch because I can't afford one at this point in my life. Mine is only about $350. One day if I can afford it and after much research I may treat myself to a really nice watch though, and it won't have anything to do with anyone besides myself.

Does it still run? A friend bought a fake one about 10 years ago and he told me it still keeps great time. Go figure.

I'm heading to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong later this year. Where in china did you get it and Did you just see these replicas walking around or did you know where to go?

In the major market/bizarre in Shanghai.... There are several vendors to choose from. Don't buy from the guy with the chintzy briefcase, go to a jewelry store and ask. They'll steer you in the right direction.

There are different grades of knock-offs/replicas, how many of the watches you thought were real were not?

Not sure how legal that is. Just hope the Feds aren't waiting for your payment on the other side!

I have a Rolex oyster day/date that I have worn for 27 years. Sure it cost a lot at the time, but it will be the only watch I will own in a lifetime. $7000 for a watch is a bit much!

I think the gauss is the coolest watch Rolex makes, but I'd feel like a fool wearing one. Rolex is just poor style no matter how you cut it. Rolex wearers are the worst, and I LOVE watches.

Wife bought me a GMT Master II for my 30th birthday. Also bought me a fake GMT Master II to wear to work (industrial work, not tearing up the real one in a plant). They are identical in every aspect except the fake isn't water resistant. The fake keeps great time and has a sweeping second hand.

Point being, the fakes can be good watches, or you could end up buying a dud.

I buy from a dealer to avoid knockoff shite. If it sounds too good to be true, it is...

Haven't bought Rolex but tags, yes.

I don't see the point in buying fake shite. From expensive watches to something of much lesser value. I hate the idea of someone else making money off another persons product.

It's like when a big movie comes out and they hurry up and make a rushed piece of crap movie before it's release simply to make money off that name.

I bought a knock off watch once to see how I would like it before I bought the real thing.
