yup i remember when the skins played the falcons and everyone was like im just a vick fan

then those same people showed up in eagles jerseys, best part is eagles fans tried to fight them as well

Nothing wrong with having a favorite team and also pulling for players to win, but to go out and claim their team as well is just some front running bandwagon shite

That is correct.

is it because there are only 5 players playing at a time or what?

I believe so. A basketball player can take over a game alone much easier than a baseball or football player.

When I was in junior and high school, I was a Pittsburgh Penguins fan because Mario Lemieux was my favorite player. I was a rare kid in Houston that played, followed, and loved ice hockey, amongst the other more typical sports. Once Mario was done for good, I never really cared about the Pens again.

I've always refused to support a Dallas team. The only hockey team I would consider myself a fan of these days is the Avs since I've lived here for some time now and go to 2-3 games a season.

Dan Marino made me a Dolphins fan for his entire career. As long as it didn't conflict with being a Saints fan I'm sure I'd have followed Marino if he played for another team. I assume the Saints bandwagon is similarly full of Drew Brees fans.

I did it with Shaq. With him gone I don't really care about the NBA that much.

Yep. Vick and Tebow are both more cult-like than Manning and Favre.

I think Cam could approach that level one day too.

Always been a Spurs fan. I loved The Admiral, but if he'd been traded or lost to free agency (as he nearly was toward the latter stages of his career), I'd have still been a Spurs fan.

San Antonio boy first and foremost.

just a fan?

but you constantly say "we did it", and "we worked hard".

I was sure you were at least an assistant coach.

Yeah, basically. as stated, football has a few like that.

That's why I consider myself just a fan of the game, not players. I will however cheer for the Pels if I am watching them. There is nothing worse than seeing locals cheer for the visiting team in the arena.

ETA: oddly enough I only cheer for LSU players in the NFL.

I have a friend that's a diamond backs fan because of randy Johnson.

I am the opposite in a way, I hate the cowboys so I cheer for romo.

You think a large percent of Green Bay fans became Vikings fans?

My roommate did. Die hard Packers fan his whole life, followed Favre to Jets and Vikings. Has since returned to Packers fandome.

Tim Tebow has gotten plenty of people to buy jerseys and watch games, and that dude doesn't even play.

Ronoldo and Ronaldinho are jerseys I see/saw everywhere. I don't believe all those people were fans of the teams, but rather of the players.

Why does it make people so mad that others like Lebron James? He is a once in a lifetime athlete.. Obviously people are going to pick them as their favorite and follow his career.

Is it wrong to be loyal to a certain player and not a certain team? You think because you watched a team since you were 5 because your daddy forced you and now it's your favorite team makes you some super fan?

People need to get off their high horse and just enjoy the games.

Aside from C on Z, just about everyone on the MSB who was rooting for the heat in the finals fully acknowledges that they are LeBron fans.

how is it that everyone can love MJ

And on the same thought think that people who love LeBron are all bandwagon losers?

You liked MJ when he played, I'm sure. Are you a Bulls fan?

LeBron is the most polarizing guy in sports. If you are a LeBron fan you almost have to be a Heat fan with all the hate that is thrown his way.

What if where you live doesn't have a team? How far away from a big city or team location do you have to be for it to be ok to pick another team?

Why is it bandwagon to root for Lebron since he came into the league, despite sticking with your fandom even when it seemed he couldn't get it done and when 90% of the country hated him, but it's perfectly ok to be a fan of Jordan even if you aren't a fan of the current bulls?

And being a Lebron fan means you have to root for the team he's on wholeheartedly bc people are stupid and can't tell the difference between team and individual success. The fact that he's blamed for any series losses while with Cleveland proves that

b/c Lebron fans have had it so hard sticking with him these last 10 years before he even won a ring. Multiple playoff and finals appearances. Then claiming his team saying we have suffered being what ever fans is a joke.

Try being fan of a team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 5 + years or never gets out the first round thats suffering
