I'm not sure about IL. I would've thought Deere was more "popular" than Cat. I understand Cat has a tremendous market share advantage over Deere, but when I think branding, I believe Deere is bigger among non-commercial consumers, where branding is more important.

Alabama should just be Julio Jones. Thats really the only good thing to come out of that state

Sorry but not just no, but hell motherfricking no. Deere is nowhere near as popular as Cat in anything other than making agricultural tractors and lawn mowers. Caterpillar is the world's largest manufacturer of earth moving equipment and diesel power engines.

As for being popular, only Coca-Cola sells more branded promotional merchandise than Catrerpillar worldwide.

I googled looking for relevant info before my post and did not see this. Pretty interesting.

I know Apple is bigger in terms of annual revenue, but I would think Disney is a more vualed brand name for CA.

That is splitting hairs though. They are both at the top.

I've been looking as well. I've worked for the Cat dealership in Alabama for 20 years. I was on a factory tour at Cat HQ in Peoria with some of our customers a couple years ago and struck up a conversation with one of the main promo guys at Cat and he informed me of this. It's one of those odd facts that just sticks with you once you hear about it.

Once you think about it though it makes sense. Think of how many Cat hats, tags, shirts, decals, boots, and all the rest you see out and about.

I think the map excludes brands that moved from the state where they were founded. Hence, no McDonald's - arguably the worlds best known brand.

Used to be Sambo's. They have a checkered past in race relations.

Cat engines are in alot more stuff than people realize. A good bit of the diesel engines in Army vehicles are Cat's.
