that's pretty much why it's distasteful to me. shameless self-promoting. I think it's quite tacky but I guess that's just me.

Why can't it be both considerate AND functional?

I think it's considerate given it's owners and part of their fan base is American...

I considered making a bad joke, but I wont...

Do you think Liverpool residents feel the same when Americans, or Indonesians, or anyone else outside of the city of Liverpool memorializes Hillsborough, or Heysel?

I would think not.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the entire issue. generally, the internet tributes come off as trite. the WTCs being made red and slapping on liverbirds and YNWA only adds to that already slightly distasteful feeling.

sure, something can be considerate and functional. I'm not sure this is truly considerate. it's a corporation marketing scheme. regardless, even if someone at LFC involved in making this was attempting to be considerate, they went about it in a poor way that swallows up any consideration.

if the Red Sox released a picture of Hillsborough painted red (ok, the color doesn't work here) with it's logo beside it and "Sweet Caroline" at the top, I don't think that would go down particularly well.

the point is, that isn't a memorial. that's a marketing scheme. the focus isn't on what happened. it's on LFC.

despite my general distaste with internet tributes, you can do one actually in memory of what happened that is well-meaning. I think this particular picture was well off the mark there.

I dont think there was anything other than a sincere attempt at a tribute to the lives lost on that day... I mean, was it anywhere else that the LFC Mainsite, twitter account or FB page? Media that caterers to LFC supporters... There was a story that accompanied it, documenting a LFC supporters first hand account of being in the towers...

I may tend to agree with you if LFC took out a full page ad in the new york times...

I get what you're saying, but I think you're reading into it too much. Your point certainly isn't bad though, considering the flack Budweiser caught for the once run Clydesdale Sept. 11th ad.

I would probably agree if we blasted it during a commercial break for good morning america or a prime time show tonight... but as far as I know, it was all internal targeted to LFC fans.

Liverpool expect Glen Johnson to be fit in 5-6 weeks. He'll almost certainly miss England's final two World Cup qualifiers.

Good to hear on Glen... he tweeted as much today!

Next 6 matches: Swansea, Southampton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, WBA

Very favorable... predictions?

In all seriousness....

Swansea - D

South - W

Sunder - W

Palace - W

Newcastle - Easy W

WBA - W or D

We need to come out of this stretch still leading the PL. You can't ask for an easier start to the league and an easier rode for not having Suarez's appetite for a the goal available.

I think at the very least, it has to be 13 points, but I think it could realistically be 16 or 18.

Do we play Suarez against ManU or save him for the next league match?
