One thing I notice about my iron swing is I always go 3/4 if I try full, shite gets ugly real fast.
My drive is down right awful. But iv been practicing irons way more.

I have refrained from calling BS this whole thread. But there is no way you drive 300 consistently. I play with two guys who are long off the tee and touch 300 maybe once or twice a round. And they are both single digit handicappers.

You might touch 300 now and then but not consistently. No way.

When I first started playing a friend of mine (great golfer/club pro now) gave me that tip. Basically it's for fairway irons. If the shot calls for a 6 iron, use a 5 iron and take a 3 quarter swing. It helps with your control when you are new to the game. I think he got the tip from Jack Nicklaus' "Golf My Way" video (1980's)

gotcha. I've basically been doing that. Worked out really well today except for 1 whole where I got all of it

why isnt this guy playing in the PGA?

He shot under 100 the first time he ever played.

He shoots in the 90s after playing 10 times?

this could be the greatest golfer ever

but dont play drunk either

i've found that there's a nice spot i settle in at after 2 beers where i can relax more and swing smoother

but once i start drinking too much my game goes to absolute shite

ETA: my game is already absolute shite, its goes to even worse shite

I've been focusing on shoulder postitioning and moving my weight from the inside of my right knee to my left. I hit the ball very well yesterday, but it was a par 3 course

Just because the hole says 400 and you've got 100 in for your second shot does not always mean you hit your drive 300 yards. Play a flat course at sea-level to see how far you really hit it. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I would be willing to stand on a driving range 300 yards from the tee with most amateurs hitting.

ETA: To clarify, holes are not measured on a straight shot from tee to green. If the hole has any bend to it, the only way that measurement is accurate is if you play directly down the middle of the fairway for the entire hole.

I'm a consistently very long hitter off the tee, a single digit handicap and have played lots of golf in lots of different cities with everything from hacks to a pro that has won on the pga tour. Lots of golfers can and do hit it 300 occasionally, almost zero golfers not making money hit it 300 consistently.

That's the answer I was expecting and makes me think you are full of it.

To hit it 300 consistently is quite a feat. Pga pros barely do it. Hitting it 300 with any sort of consistency when only ten rounds into your golfing career is damn near impossible. You just can't square the club face on a reliable basis if your new and swinging that hard.

To hit 300 you have to either swing really hard or have your weight shift and leverage down to a perfect science. There is no way a new player has this down in 10 rounds.

Of course a new player may hit a fairway or two with 300 yards drives but they will also hit more deep in the woods or on top of houses, because there is no way your control is that good.

I have been playing golf for over 20 years and seen tons of new players and I have never seen one crank a 300 yard drive. Most I see can't even contact the ball on a regular basis, but your driving par 5's in two.

Just cut the crap your not that good.

Not sure the answer to your question, but I found this site last week and it looked like a good tool.

Agree, I have hit some 320 on baked out fairways with a tailwind and downhill, but my average good drive is like 250-260 maybe 270 if I really catch one, and my average average drive is probably 240.
