Good on Cleverley for mopping up Coutinho when the ball wasn't played out.
frick you. That is one of the things wrong with the modern game.
Agreed, Cleverly isn't the ref and I can't remember but if he didn't get a yellow for that he should have at least.

MAD.
It's about standing up for your teammates in that situation. Just like Gerrard did when he got in RvP's face. Was it physical? No, but you know as well as I do that if it needed to be physical, stevie g would have no qualms about escalating it.

I'm sooooo mad we beat y'all with a backup CB and without our best player!
It isn't about standing up for your teammates. It's about players thinking it is their responsibility to read, interpret and enforce the rules on the pitch. It's a growing issue, and Cleverley's play was the perfect example. Not to mention he picked up a yellow and gave us a FK just outside the 18. Hardly something that should be applauded.

Lol no you are mad bc you overreacted to something so trivial.
And we'll just have to disagree on this one.
And to narrow down what's wrong with the modern game to this is kinda silly. Racism? Overinflated wages and transfer fees? "Sugar momma" owners creating super teams? I feel like there are much better choices.

Is this just the go to I'm on the internet and don't have a legitimate argument so I'm just going to use this?
Beast is right by the way, it signifies Cleverly has no respect for the official. Oh and one of my players is hurt, let me maybe hurt one of your players! yeah that's mature.

I'm not getting into a flame war over this. I'm glad you calmed down though. Whew u were making me nervous with your hostility.

I don't think that there has ever been a time where you wouldn't risk getting the shite kicked out of you for not playing the ball out of bounds.
It's an issue of etiquette between two teams. Unless a player appears to be in serious danger, the official isn't really in a position to do anything about it.

I disagree, especially in the modern landscape where players regularly spend 2+ minutes on the ground selling a foul.

I don't necessarily think the ball should have been played out. Cleverly did though and he made it known. Its a derby match and massive rivalry, and I'm glad he stood up for a teammate l.

that is like throwing at someone in baseball intentionally. just because it's customary doesn't make it right. that shite is dangerous.

Didn't see the incident in question, and there are certainly instances where teams could feel justified by continuing play. At the end of the day, it's part of the game, something that everyone grows up doing, and it's kind of a dick move when it's violated.

It's kind of a dick move to potentially hurt a Liverpool player as well.

It's more like a pitcher throwing at a batter because one of his teammates got injured running to first base

Not really, if I remember right (good possibility I don't). Coutinho was the guy that would have played the ball out if necessary but he chose not to. He shouldn't have either, IMO. Cleverly felt otherwise however and I don't mind him sticking up for what he believes is right. I feel like I'm being redundant and I'm gonna stop lol, my bad.

FML. What a fricking awful summer for Moyes.
