It truly is unbelievable that some of these clowns get paid to play the game of baseball. Should MLB step in and suspend teams like the Astros for say 1 season for being a complete disgrace to the game?

They're still better than the Marlins- who just build a billion-dollar stadium and can't get 7,000 there

Contraction in MLB would be amazing. I wish they'd move to that model.

I think MLB should impliment a salary floor that all teams must comply with, but no to suggest they're disgracing the game is silly.

I used the Astros as an example, but mean teams like that in general.

The Astros have been a perfect example of everything wrong with MLB in recent years.

Oh and Miami doesn't deserve ANY sports teams btw

only if you had a salary cap which will never happen.

Not sure why this is coming up again now, but it would hae been stupid for them to sign some big name guys just to win 68 games instead of 58. Wasting money on free agents to chase wins now is how they got into this mess. They are building the minors and drafting reasonably well. They have some prospects that should be up in the 2nd half of the season. If in 4-5 years they still have a small payroll and start dumping promising young players, then they will be a disgrace, but for now they have a plan that makes sense.

And what exactly is that? Or are you just going to keep talking in vague generalities to support your absurd proposal?

The Dodgers are the 2nd highest team in Payroll and pay almost $200 million more...and have 1 more win than the Astros.

Money doesn't always = wins

ETA: They're on pace to go 61-101, which isn't good by any standards but compared to the recent Astros teams, it is.

how long have you been following MLB?

It can't be very long to make such a ridiculous statement.

1. Dodgers $220,395,196 29-40
3. Phillies $170,760,689 35-37
7. Angels $127,896,250 31-40
8. White Sox $119,573,277 29-36
9. Blue Jays $117,035,100 34-36
10. Nationals $114,194,270 34-36

So 6 out of top 10 clubs in payroll have losing records. Yeah the Astros are ruining the integrity of the game by not spending $100 million on their losing team.

They aren't even the worst team in baseball. They're also only a few games back of the Angels and their high arse payroll.

The top 10 payroll clubs have an average payroll of $135,775,698 and an average record of 35-35. So what you're getting at is the Astros should have spent $114,000,000 more so they could have 8 more wins right now and be in 3rd place in the division. No thank you. I'd rather suck with cheap players and get a top draft pick than be mediocre with a overpriced players.

I heard the Astros new owner on the radio here in Houston. Directly said spending more money wouldn't have bought them many more wins this year and wants to build the franchise the right way. Seemed reasonable to me.
