Absolutely. All the creativity and attacking we showed will only get better when we add Donovan to the firstXI

But wait, guys. Mexico is miles ahead of the US, and we'll be lucky to make it to Brazil. Jurgen Klinsmann ruined us, and now we'll be speaking Spanish by the end of the year!

In some ways, the 2009 win over Spain was our peak. We had a stretch of five halves of soccer were we beat the champions of Africa, Europe, and South America by a combined score of 7-0. Several players were at their peaks, including: Donovan, Howard, Charlie Davies, Bocanegra, DeMerit, and Onyewu. At the same time, Bornstein and Conor Casey saw the field in that game.

I don't know what all that quitting stuff was about, but I'd be salivating to play on this team if I were him.

I guess that is thanks to JK

Nah. He deserves credit for putting the team together, but that is beyond the influence of a national team manager.

In that respect, our player pool has progressed really well.

BOW DOWN MOTHER frickERS TO THE GREATNESS OF BORNSTEINNNNNNNN

ETA: This was the last game of the hex in the last cycle. It basically locked Honduras in the World Cup (on differential) and forced Costa Rica to play Uruguay in a playoff.

Pay attention because it's only like 4 seconds of greatness.

That 4 seconds fricked a country out of a WC berth.

I should also mention that we lost the other five halves of that Confederations Cup by a combined score of 9-1. It's really a head-scratcher.

ETA: That Costa Rica game was a real turning point because Gooch and Davies had their major injuries within a day or two of each other.

Costa Rica Smashed our arse 3-1

Bob Bradley received a lot of criticism, some of it warranted but much of it unwarranted.

Any criticism surrounding that match was warranted. A true, "what the frick?" moment.

Bob built a strong foundation, but Jurgy has us playing at another level.

How is it determined who is the head of the group in the WC?

Is it by standings in qualification, or FIFA rankings?

Like, if we place first in CONCACAF, will be the head of a group in Brasil?

It's a random draw I think.

The scary part is..... without that Bornstein last second goal and the Frankie Hejduk goal.

We would have finished 3rd or 4th. We might have been playing Uruguay. If we didn't have those two goals.

No, there are top seeds heading into the WC.

NM....it's the top seven ranked teams going into the WC plus the home team (Brasil).

It's important we climb those standings.

We're #28. Mexico is #17.
Bosnia is 15. Brazil is #23.

Uruguay would likely have destroyed us, and missing a WC would have set us back in a big way.

their game with Costa Rica = 0-1, 1-1. Advanced on 2-1 Agg.

I didn't watch the game but doesn't sound like it was THAT far away. Knowing what Uruguay did in the WC. Imagine if they didn't win that playoff.

But, the Hex was so f'ing close. I think 2 teams (US/Mex) had 6 wins. 2 teams had 5 wins (Hond/CR)

The US would have finished 3rd so we'd still have qualified.
