Fish ID need a argument settled

We caught this fish on live bait the other night and my friend thinks its a mix between a spotted cat and a mud cat. I argued and said it's a mud cat so settle this argument for us.

Pretty sure you are both wrong and TigerDeacon is correct there with the brown bullhead.

No he was barely hooked and it pulled right out. We always called those a mudcat I gueds we're both wrong. I've caught several out my pond before. We never ate them I'm assuming they are no good?

I have to see the top of the head to tell what it is. Still, a cool catch. Never saw the color of one like that.

Mouth looks like a small flathead

I want to call it a flathead but after further review it's a brown bullhead because it doesn't have whiskers on top of it's upper jaw.

I wish you had a better picture though.

I thought all bullhead were mudcat. Yours appears to be the digitalcamo mudcat

It's pattern really looks like the digital camo. If I catch another I will post better pics, but we always called those mudcats except they seemed a brighter color. So the consenses seems to be brown bullhead? No good to eat?
