No shite. But I bet when you line up the 8 hitting coaches from teams in the CWS he's towards the bottom, if not the very bottom.

I'll respond at some point prior to football season after the meltdown has subsided and an actual discussion can occur.

Well, I certainly hope so.

I wish he would demonstrate it in clutch situations

What do you want Javi to do? Do you have suggestions for simulating CWS or "clutch situations"? Maybe you can get TAF to build a Rosenblatt replica off GSRI and fill it with 20,000+ fans... Maybe let Mike loose roaming the infield so they can feel nerves?

The lack of hitting is a combination of a failure to execute and facing top talent. The team hit well against the SEC pitching all year, which is good pitching.

It is what it is. Players play the game. LSU lost. It happens. 87.5% of teamns will be elimated if you happen to earn your way into the CWS...

If you're blaming the hitting coach, you probably are the same douche that blames other people for your mistakes... Take ownership...

I would like him to make adjustments. If a coach told me to do something and I didn't do it, he should chew my arse out. Seems like PM told the players to lay off the high fastballs and they never listened. I am not sure I believe that.

Anyone that knows hitting would advise bregman to not swing at every strike he sees. I would be willing to bet he swung at 1st or 2nd pitch in 80% of his at bats this season. While you don't want to take away all his aggressiveness he would get better pitches too hit with some patience.

Isn't it ultimately the coach's job to get their players to perform? If not, then why do we need coaches at all?

It appears someone from UCLA saw that we being a free swinging aggressive team were susceptible to the high strikes. They correctly surmised that that the ball park will hold potential game altering home runs. NC did the samething today. CPM spoke of the need to layoff the high pitch but as a former player I can say its very hard to do. Especially if its only mid 80's cheese.

Then I guess talent and execution play no part... If you had Joe Torre as a little league coach, you'd be in Cooperstown... If you had Bill Belichick as a coach, you'd never miss a block...

While javi works on the mechanics, it is on CPM to talk to his players and get them to change their approach. That's on him.

I bought into the FIRE JAVI thing last year after Stony Brook, but not this year. They've done well all year against good pitching. They did not adjust well in Omaha. Rosenblatt played to LSU's strengths, this new park does not. I think that they will be better prepared when they go back next year and hopefully they will make some changes to the bats or the fences at TDA.

This one stings, but I'm still proud of the Tigers. Those leaving will be missed, but I'm excited about what we have coming back.

Well, how many runs did #1 UNC score their first CWS game? 1, just like LSU. UNC out hit LSU 11-10 today. LSU had a bad game situational hitting, but the thing they couldn't overcome was the starter giving up two in the 1st and having to get bailed out by BB who ended up giving up one and overcoming a crises situation rather well. You must not watch nor have played much baseball as some of these things people want to bitch about are fairly common at all levels of play. Maybe PM believes his guys have a lot more upside swinging than bunting, I can't answer for the man, but he has been correct a ton more than he has been wrong and did a stellar job with a poor hitting team last season to boot.

As Skip always says, you have to play well, but you also need good baseball fortune. They had extremely bad baseball fortune in Omaha, especially in game 1.

Old Fashioneds were about $6 at the Bulldog and I've had about $18 worth of therapy, so I'm going to get out of here and think happy thoughts.

yeah good fortune killed us this year.

you can tell things are going well when Katz is about to make an amazing diving catch at first to take away a run and maybe keep it at 2-0 then the ball hits the bag and jones can't handle it. That is bad fortune baseball at it finest.

The only questionable move I had for the coaches was not stealing laird to second after mcmullens double with Bregman up. To me it was a no brainier to steal.

Yep.

Speaking of Skip, Just one note for some of the newer fans or the bandwagoners. 1994 CWS. LSU also went 2 and out with a 20-6 loss to CSF. And you know, there were a lot of people who thought that Skip was an idiot then, too. They look pretty foolish in retrospect.

The Tigers and the program will be fine. NOW, I'm calling it a night.
