Teach Me About BF3 Weapons

BF3 Noob here.
So, I think I'm a lvl 16 or 17 or so. I've got the Premium content. And I'm not real big on riding around in vehicles.
So, I really just like locking shite down with my ARs and being enganged in one on one gun battles.
frick all that hiding in the tank or flying around chasing each other not accomplising anything shizzz.
What guns do i need to strive for?
What are the badass BF3 Assault Rifles or SMGs?
And do I need to be a certain lvl to unlock them or just accomplish some stuff to unlock them?
this is so not COD....

its been a while. I was going HAM on this shite when MW3 was 'popular'
feels like i used another AR... not the f2000 though.

Isn't there two M16's? One 2 round burst and one fully auto?
I haven't really used much outside the M416 unless I use support. I hate using LMGs

M416 and M16A3 are the best assault weapons and all around weapons. M4A1 is badass for engineer. PKP pechneg with a bipod is lethal as well
