Would you have a problem with him winning it if the Heat won the series and he continued at this current level of play?

Even if Danny Green scored 100 points in a game, and the H eat won, Lebron would be MVP

If the Heat win, it's gonna be a Heat player (LeBron). There should never be an MVP on the losing team.

I agree in 99 out of 100 cases, but no-one to me from either team has really "carried" his team to wins. Lebron has been below his average (obviously high standards) and Wade has been good in 2 games of 5.

Manu has been eh, Timmy has been consistent but not spectacular, and Parker has been good not great

That's usually teams' gameplan...get wide open shots. Coaches don't really have strategies focused around contested shots

Of course not. There is nothing more "valuable" than winning the series.

Look I'm a LeBron hater, but that team has no chance to win this series without him...which means MVP. And yes he hasn't been himself, but his numbers aren't terrible. Good enough for MVP. We'll never see an MVP on a losing team.

@espnstatsinfo For the series Danny Green is 18-of-24 on open 3s and 7-of-14 on contested 3s (via video review).

This is just ridiculous. Like I said, sometimes I wonder if the Heat know you get an extra point for being behind that line.

Well his question was, "if the Heat win, should Green win it?" (paraphrasing)

What if you scored 90 points a game for your team, and no one else scored and got beat 4 times, but the other team had ten guys average 10 points a game?

One of those louses is more valuable than you dropping 90 by yourself?

Are points the only indicator?

Blocked shots?

Limiting your opponent to a lower field goal percentage?

Steals?

Assists?

Rebounds?

Pick someone from the winning team...obviously the 90 pts per game wasn't valuable enough. May have to dig into other stats.

It's an outrageous example, but I'm just saying I don't think your logic follows.

Teams win titles, not individuals.

If a single individual plays out of his mind (let's say Shaq-type Finals numbers) and his team loses, he should still be the MVP, because he's clearly the most valuable person on the court.

A former Cav would have won Finals MVP the last two years

The scary thing for miami is the MINUTE they decide to throw more defensive focus at Green, Parker and Duncan will have a dadgum field day with the pick and roll going straight to the rim.

They literally have to hope this kid cools off.

My logic does follow.

It's for the "Most Valuable Player".

My contention is that there is nothing more valuable than winning the Title.

The player that contributes the most to achieving that goal should win the award.

People saying that the NBA will never allow it are nuts. If they close out the series he's going to win it.

Well hopefully we'll get to see it play out this way.

I'd love to be wrong.

re: Would you support Danny Green winning Finals MVP?

I think Wade wins MVP if they pull this out and he continues his good play, not Lebron like people are sayin on here. They won Game 4 because of Wade. Lebron scored 9 garbage points at the end of that game to outscore him. But Wade has been more effective than Lebron up to this point. Lebron has been scared or whatever to take control of these games like he did with Indiana. Shit, there is no difference between Leonard and Paul George. If you can dominate George you can do that to Leonard also.
