Hoover VS TdAmeritrade

The SEC has three years remaining on its contract with Hoover through the 2016 tournament. Discussions for a future contract will begin after the 2014 tournament, Hallman said.
"One reason to start early is Hoover wants to continue to make improvements on the facility and they need a planning window to do so," Hallman said.
An SEC spokesman said there has been some preliminary discussions of possibly slightly moving in Hoover's fences to match Omaha's ballpark at the College World Series.
Omaha's TD Ameritrade Park is 335 feet down the lines and 408 to center field. The Hoover Met is 340 down the lines and 405 to center.
I think there was only 4 home runs in the SEC tournament. Now only one in four games of the best college teams. The home run is not much of a factor in collegiate baseball post season play.

I want to leave Hoover I hate the ball park it is out of date, there is a nicer stadium not to far from Hoover, that may be a better setting for the SEC tourney.
While I hate TdAmeritrade and its pitchers ballpark design, I don't want to leave that park. It is state of the art, it is designed for the College World Series. Maybe bring the fences in or something, but I really don't think there is any other place in the country that can better host the College World Series. While the stadium punishes hitters and rewards pitchers (which I hate) you can't beat the atmosphere of omaha and the modern aspects of this stadium.

I don't get why they had to change the CWS dimensions so much. They should have kept the exact same dimensions as Rosenblatt and upgraded to a new stadium.

It has more to do with the location of TD Ameritrade than the fence. The ball does not carry in that stadium the way it did at Rosenblatt.

the dimensions are the same as the blatt.

REALLY??? The dimensions are the same? I thought TD was way bigger ... why don't the balls carry then? That totally sucked.

was just typing up a long response and my browser crashed
simply
the new stadium has the same dimensions but it faces another way, (meaning the wind usually blows in from right instead of out towards left) is at the bottom of a hill, and the bats changed at the same time the stadium changed.
so it feels like a huge park while the blatt felt small.

TD faces the other direction and the wind pushes the ball back in.

The way TD Ameritrade park is positioned makes it more difficult to hit out. In the midwest the weather usually moves from SW to NE so balls are going to be influenced adversely.
The dimensions are actually identical to Rosenblatt, the biggest differences are the wind and heavy air. TD in a valley by the river, Rosenbaltt was up on a hill and turned the correct way, Omaha officials wanted an attractive view visible from the stadium.

Sorry ... couldn't they have thought of another way to situate the park? No homeruns = no excitement. Like my son said, it just seems like some of the "fun" has been taken out. Imagine no Warren Morris homerun in this park. And this park just looks HUGE on tv ... I haven't been to the new one but I think I'd still prefer Rosenblatt.
We were hoping to go for the final championship series but don't know if it'll work out ... so glad we went in 2009. My parents are going for the first time and catching Thursday and Friday games. Hoping LSU is still there!

Nothing wrong with the stadium, it's the bat. Ibarra would have had 2 HRs last night with the bat used a couple of years ago.
Fans can debate if it's good or bad for the game, but coaches have to adjust to this new era of college baseball.

I've watched every game of the CWS so far and the games have been quite boring.

the park does reduce homeruns a-little bit but it is mostly the bat.

the OSU MSU game was pretty good.

Yes, it was the best so far.

I get it that the size is a major factor. So is facing the aces in the first round though.
I don't mind not seeing HR's constantly. Katz got his.

TD Ameritrade is not the home of the college World Series. Their is absolutely no energy in the park. The comitee only allotted 700 tickets per team so that was the bulk of our fans. Everyone else was spread out making it impossible to get our fans to rally together. Not near as fun to be a fan at TD as it was the Blatt.

Would have been better if the last out had actually went where it should have gone, which was the stands for a walk off homer. Either move the fences, change the ball or change the bats. Baseball is not baseball without the threat of a homerun from a pitcher's mistake. When nobody has hit a homerun to dead center, you have a serious problem.

I still don't know why they didn't build TD Ameritrade in the same direction as Rosenblatt. It wouldn't have been a HR fest because the new park doesn't sit on the bluff like Rosenblatt did so the winds wouldn't be as bad.
