How to boil shrimp?

New to boiling shrimp. What are your methods/tips?

I tend to put more seasoning (both powder and liquid) than crawfish and cook less. Depending on how quick they come back to a boil, I might cut them off when they are coming back to a boil, or only boil a minute or two. I also like to add ice to cool the shrimp when I cut off the fire and stop the cooking process. Shrimp cook quick and overcooked shrimp are almost as bad as shrimp with no spice...

Keeping them from overcooking is key. Put a ton of seasoning.


I think the next time I boil shrimp I will try the method of boiling them first and then dumping them into a tub of water with the seasonings so soak.

I tried this once thinking it would not work. I was surprised how well it worked.

Extra seasonings, get your water boiling well, drop shrimp in and immediately cut the fire, when they start floating they are done, add ice or get them out of the water quick, an extra minute can be the difference between greatness and unable to peel
