Can we finally ditch origin stories for all these superhero/remake movies?

At this point can't we assume that everyone knows how spiderman became spiderman, that bruce wayne's parents were killed, krypton blew up, etc, etc, etc? It's really aggravating going in to Man of Steel tomorrow having to rehash all this yet again. Just jump right in and give us your best take.

Batman Begins and Star Trek 2009 were a little different in that we were getting into things that hadn't been seen on the screen before, but for Superman there was a very long running series that dealt totally with this topic.

The very point of this film was to break from the long running series that was totally outdated for today's requirements. Your very point is the reason why Superman Returns was such a disaster. You only get fresh and new by being fresh and new.

Plus not everyone knows how they get his powers, movies want as much $$ as possible. The people who already know the origins is already more likely to see the movie then someone who knows nothing of the superhero

Its a way to seperate itself from other versions of Superman

The Krypton scenes from MoS are beautifully done and some of the best parts of the movie

And the story of Krypton is unique for MoS

I did. The OP sucks so bad that not even the downvote wants to be associated with him.

don't you want original stories rather than the same shite over and over and over again?

You say that like you cant make an origin story unique and original.

I agree. I hated we had a rehased story for the first half of Spiderman. Just treat them like Bond films. I don't need to see Shia trapped in a cave making Iron Man in the reboot.

not saying you can't, but there is so much out there to explore with the characters why are we limiting ourselves?

Would the Dark Knight have been as good as it was without Batman Begins? It is a different story for a different time. Why does this bother you so much?

ok #1 I singled out BB as being a little different in the OP and #2 like I said it bothers me because we could be exploring new and different archs. Wouldn't you like to see a Superman movie with Braniac? Or Doomsday?

The Spiderman reboot was necessary because they were drawing from a different series of comics for their inspiration/stories.

Each and every reboot has taken the character and improved upon them. Batman was a joke in the mid-90s. For now, people think of those movies as THE superhero movies. The Spiderman series was full of camp and after a fricking emo dancing Peter Parker, it needed a rejuvenation.

Superman needed new life on screen.

If you can't see how origin stories are important to set up what drives a character, then you just simply don't understand films. Hell pretty much every original movie is a "origin" movie.

The 2009 Star Trek film: Origin story. Pirates of the Carribean TCOTBP: Origin Story. Transformers: Origin story. The Matrix: Origin story. 300: Origin story. Scarface: Origin story. Hell even the second and third Indiana Jones movies were partial Origin stories.

I want to see the Tony Stark alcoholic storyline not stuff I've already seen. Same with Batman. I want to see the rest of the villains and not the Joker and Catwoman over and over. I want to see the Rat King and Leatherhead in Ninja Turtles not the origin story of the turtles over and over.
