Am I missing out by not using any of the windows 8 apps?

Let me start off by saying 7 on desktop > 8 on laptop but since I have 8 on my laptop, should I give some of the apps a shot? I have the stardock start8 for the start button, but I haven't done anything else. Are there any out there worth getting on the windows store, or should I just accept it for what it is at this point?
