What Makes Alex Box Special-From the Bird's Nest

quote:

But, all that being said, Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field was one of my best experiences I’ve had at an on-campus baseball facility.

It has to do with passionate fans, sure. But what sets this stadium apart from others, including the old Alex Box, are those who are being paid for their services.

I’m talking about the ticket office. I’m talking about those who man the gates and scan tickets. I’m talking about those who run the elevators. I’m talking about those who sell programs. I’m talking about ushers. I’m talking about security.

THOSE are the ones that set Alex Box Stadium apart from the others.

If germans, sorry. I did search.

Yea I don't agree with the article at all. Pretty sure the fans are exactly what makes it so special.

is it just me or was a weird article? all he talked about were ushers, gate workers, etc.

i would expect them know the answers to questions. im gonna go out on a limb as say i highly doubt any of his questions were brain busters.

"hey, can you tell me where the bathroom is?"

"yes, sir! its right there. (smiles)"

"thanks!"

gotta remember, a ULL fan wrote it.

Obviously you haven't met Mr. Jimmy at section 212... He's one of the nicest old men I've ever met.

Now, I’m sure the bleachers still have some fans who look at baseball with a football mentality. That’s true of their attitude when the Tigers win. Or the Tigers lose. Those fans aren’t baseball fans. They are LSU fans. And, just like every school, there is a difference. Those are the ones you hear the bad stories about. Hopefully in the eleven years since the Cajuns’ last visit, they’ve learned a few things. Because they give the vast majority of LSU baseball fans a bad name.

sounds like he's butt hurt

College baseball isn't popular enough to get to choose who the real fans are.

I've never understood this sentiment? Is he saying that it's acceptable to be an a-hole at a football game, but not at a baseball game? In my mind, assholes are assholes, and being at a football game doesn't give someone justification for being one.

w/o question, the fans are the #1 reason why alex box is so special. the fans play off the team, which is also special. sure, the employees being nice is a part of teh overall experience just as the food in the concession stand, but it's the crazy, rabid, loud, die hard passionate LSU FAN that sets the box apart. some other schools get it (usce, ole miss, msu) but not many.

I disagree with some of that, but I'll give it a standing ovation anyway
