There were some rumors that Stallone was trying to get Mel to direct it. That would have been cool.

Didn't get passed over, Mel released it straight to satellite rental in the US and sidestepped the normal theatre process.

As to the movie, I liked it, it's basically a sequel to Payback.

Well, he does come off as a big dumb bicep, but he did write and star in an Oscar winning classic. Plus, even though his career was in a lull for quite a while, the man is still worth well north of a quarter of a billion dollars.

just watched this movie, fairly good..it isn't "The Patriot" or "Braveheart" or anything of that quality..better than I figured it would be..jails in Mexico are weird as frick(if that shite is even close to realistic)
