He is all they got. The relieve pitcher had an 85 mph fast ball.

no they didn't. yes, AFTER THE FACT, you can second guess the coach but both of our hits were very, very close to being outs. the triple was largely due to their center fielder not getting a good jump as the ball stayed up long enough for a real speedy CF to make that catch.

And if they take him out they lose anyway. I'd rather let my best guy keep going.
Btw who is that in your avatar?

I'd have pitched him till his arm fell off.... great job Tigahs!

Nonsense, Gray had complete command through the end. It would've been absurd to pull him any earlier. The guy had nasty stuff and didnt appear tired to me. Just a couple good at bats by our guys at the right time.

He wasn't losing control, even if he was losing a little bit of strength, it was barely noticeable. Which imo meant he wash still a better option than anyone they had.

You really thought we were gonna scratch across 2 runs in the 8th after that pitching performance?

He had his 7th, 8th and 9th K in the 1.1 innings before he gave up the Jacoby triple

Yep, no shame, he was good.

Yeah, no way. At the beginning of the inning he looked like he was still cruising. OU's bullpen is shitty. They knew they needed a complete game from Gray to have a shot at winning. Honestly, if they had left Gray in, we probably wouldn't have scored the 2nd run. They knew one run was all we needed though, so I guess they figured why bother leaving him out there in a loss, let him walk out to a standing O from the biggest crowd he's ever played in front of and drive off into the sunset.

Dude threw a hell of a game. Hats off to him, but beers go to my man Nola! What a freaking show! That's what post season baseball is about! We will see guys like Gray in Omaha so I'm glad the boys showed they can hit that! Geaux Tigers!

When they finally pulled Gray out, we had what- 1 run and a runner on base, with 1 out, right?
They brought in what I assume to be their best reliever (you'd think so in a 1 run game), and we just plain rocked that guy. Laird's hit was the softest contact he gave up. Another inning of that pitcher and we might have gotten 6 or more runs.
I bet tomorrow goes the same way, to a lesser extent- their starter holds us close, but when we get to their pen it's over.
