Richmond is a growing area. You could easily live around there or in Katy and have an easy commute.

Not a member but have played the Houstonian IMO very nice course and clientele. Sugar Land to the south and Katy to the north. Go for it.

It's a good area, don't let the prison a mile away fool you. That whole area off Grand Parkway(99) is blowing up.

I've never played Houstonian, but I hear it's by far the better of the two in that complex(Shadow Hawk and Houstonian).

What do you want to know? I know a few members, have played out there a bunch at both the Houstonian and Shadow Hawk

It's a good area no matter your age. Pretty affordable and good schools if you have kids. Plenty of young people in the Sugar Land area now and TownCenter has some good night life if you're in to that.

I grew up out there and played golf competitively in that area, so I'm pretty familiar with it. I also know the the owners of a few courses out there.

I play over 100 rounds per year in Houston and Louisiana. Most of the year in shorts so don't worry you will have plenty of lessons to give and tournaments if you want them.
I have started saving to join the Houstonian and have played it a few times. It's a ok track but I like the fact that I can play Redstone member/tournament courses along with Blackhorse North/south with the membership. I would join Redstone first for golf but the wife wants the pool/spa stuff.

My folks are members there and I've played 3 of their courses. Not the best in Houston/Houston outskirts, but are certainly up there.

Its a great club all around. Houston is a great place to live. I moved here in 97 from BR for law school and have stayed. Great cost of living, great suburbs all around the outer city, great inner city living and great food. Congrats.

Grand Parkway area "99" is growing. I chose Katy and love it.

The prison mentioned you will notice a little something odd. They are never outside. No yard time or basketball. Why you ask? It is a prison for the criminally insane. If you see someone outside, call somebody.

Kids? How old are you? If kids, how old are they?

I am too poor to play Houstonian. just used to peer through the fence at it when I used to play Old Orchard.

Though I am not sure if that was Houstonian or Shadow Hawk.

One of the more popular private courses in Houston. I played their a month ago I would say the club environment is corporate but that's the only negative. course is good lots of other courses to play with the membership.

I miss Old Orchard, that was a great course. Too bad the land was worth more as a real estate development than it was as a golf course...

Rumor is Escalante is going to try and unload blackhorse, it's the only club of the group that turns a good profit. Supposedly they want to get out of the Daily Fee Courses, also pay down the debts on the remaining three clubs.
