Should the MLB "World Series" now include other Nations?

Japan? Cuba? Dominican Republic? Others?
Might make for some Interesting Matchups - similar to the Little League World Series.

As long as we have mascots and umpires dancing with payers between innings, I'm all for it

No, they just need to keep growing the World Baseball Classic. It was an awesome event.

Maybe if it were the Astros or Marlins.

No. MLB Teams vs. Other Nations. Maybe, professional only, like Japan, et al.

the MLB teams would be devastated if they did that

and we'd lose just like in the WBC

Perhaps. But it would be a True "World Series".

You think the World Series winner from MLB would lose to the best team from another professional league?

I guess the best professional league outside of the MLB is probably the NPB in Japan, but you really think the best NPB team would beat the best MLB team in a 7 game series?

Only if you plan on expanding to (or moving) teams those countries so they can play a 162 game season against the same competition.

Baseball playoffs are great as they are, don't see the need for change.

Not necessarily. The world is represented. It's just through American sports franchises.

And as has already been said, this is what the WBC is for. You could do something like they do in soccer ( ) and have the world series then every few years take the best baseball franchises and pit them against other franchises. Or countries. May need these other countries to further develop their baseball infrastructure.

It's not a terrible idea, I just think it's hard to do outside the WBC for now. And I'm cool with the world series being just an american event (ok, canada too)

Not at all, I meant that if you did MLB vs other countries you'd have several of the MLB stars heading back to their homes and you'd have the American, Canadian remnants holding up the shell of their former teams. Unless you just took the MLB teams as is and pitted them against other countries but that wouldn't be sporting if they can't claim their own nationals.

I wouldn't mind seeing something done like the Champion's League in Soccer and have the top teams from each league enter in to big tournament...The current season though would make it nearly impossible with how long it is though.

*Edit* the WBC is a country v country thing though, I think it would be a lot better to implement it on a club level instead of country level.

That's what it's called, champions league, ya that's what I think would be cool if the infrastructure internationally was there

Every game would be a blow out for the MLB team. Then one pitcher would get hurt doing it and every manager would sit every good player to where it became a AA Team traveling to play.

Yeah, go ahead and include them.

Take the best team in Korea and pit them vs. the St. Louis Cardinals and their pitching staff.

Korea taps out in 2.

Stupid fricking thread is ridiculous.
