Grand Isle Restaurant in New Orleans

Went out to the Oyster Fest in New Orleans on Saturday and this place had by far my favorite dish out there, the smoked fried oysters. Seems to have been a favorite among others as well.
Admittedly, I had never even heard of or noticed this restaurant in New Orleans until Saturday. Is the rest of their food any good at the restaurant?

Such as the other people that thought they were good? Just random people I talked to out there.
Another posted mentioned in the oyster fest thread he got them on Saturday and enjoyed them so much he ordered again on Sunday.

Its strange, Grand Isle always seems to be everyone's favorite at festivals like Oyster Fest and Po Boy Fest, but few locals venture there to eat. I've always had pretty good luck at that location, good raw oysters, those smoked oysters, gumbo, po boys and the like. Awesome onion rings, but its not nearly as popular in its brick and mortar location as it is popping up at festivals.

I've never been to the restaurant.
What is a smoked fried oyster? Can you taste smoke after something is fried?

My fiancee' cousin is the manager over there. Food is pretty good. I've eaten there a while back and it was ok. Went back to taste dishes to see if we wanted to do our rehearsal dinner there, and it was awesome.

I eat there occasionally, as they have a great happy hour with $2 Andygator pints. The food is expensive for what it is but generally pretty good. Stick to seafood.

I would expect that for a flesh meat item, but it seems seafood would be different.
I just wasn't thinking.

I've never been to the restaurant, but the smoked fried oysters at oyster Fest were admittedly a foci rite of mine as well. They were just regular fried oyster( fried perfectly I must add) , with a sauce that had a smokey flavor to it hence the smoked fried oysters

Those oysters are "cold smoked" first then fried. Cold smoke is simply applying smoke that isn't hot, like they do with smoked cheeses.
Try the charcuterie plate, the braised pork shoulder and the cold smoked tuna. All are excellent.
