You honestly can't tell me the NFL QB JR became isn't his primary obstacle. JR has an NFL rep of being a lazy, unprepared, ineffective drug addict. That's a huge obstacle to get past. His LSU QB image is the polar opposite. If I were his mentor I'd do everything I could short of dressing him up as an lsu cheerleader to bring back his lsu image! I bet you will never see him in raiders gear!!!

drug addict

Without searching, I am pretty sure he was never busted for drugs as a player.

He got caught one time in Alabama, after being out of the league, drinking prescription cough syrup and sprite.

You make it sound like he was Ricky Williams who took time away from football to be a pothead.

QB's going into the NFL and tearing it up right away is the exception not the rule. Sure several guys recently have had recent success. However, most have gone to better situations.

Oakland was a perfect storm for JaMarcus, and I think he has done a lot of growing up since then. I don't see him being cancer in the locker room, and I really think he could be a quality backup until he proves to everyone that he has changed.

I agree Oakland was a perfect storm for JR. He has a lot of baggage to get rid of. I wish him the best.

Raiders is where QBs go to die. Sorry Matt Flynn cash your checks and do your job. Carson Palmer is the latest victim.

insiders that the main reason teams have stayed away is Jamarcus' Bama Boy necklace years ago. They say it showed a lack of loyalty, meaning he lacks the trait of a leader.

While i have no doubt some scout might think this.

I'm pretty sure the reason behind teams staying away from him has to do with his poor conditioning, lack of work ethic and miserable play on the field while in Oakland.

They don't want to bring him in only to have him go right back down the toilet again after he gets a big payday. He looks good now, but what happens after year one when he gets another fat check…does it translate into a fat arse?!
