LSU averaged 10500 & breaks it own NCAA attendance record pretty much every year. Would it work & where would you put it. Love my braves, but would love to have a true southern baseball team. If no, why?

Probably not because it's SO expensive to bring a family with regularity to a MLB game.

there's simply not enough people in a concentrated area that can afford the ticket prices and would be able to show up to games 180 days out of the year.

Louisiana would probably provide the most fan support per capita of any other possible baseball market, but there's just not enough capitas.

No.

Don't confuse love of winning and LSU to a love of baseball.

not really. you don't have to eat or drink and you can find outfield tickets for 20 a pop

This, and I feel like at this point so many baseball fans in the state already love one team enough. We don't hav the population to come up with a respectable, consistent crowd

The Zephyrs averaged less than 5k last season, and are quite possibly on their way out of state. There's too much influence and established fan bases of other teams already in Louisiana.

It would be a pretty horrible team if it would have to be relocated

Combine that with no connection to the team, weekday games, and high prices..we would do worse than the Marlins

I wish it could work. Would be nice to put the stadium on top of the Iberville projects here in N.O.

Walkable to the quarter and everything

Professional baseball would be worse than the Pelicans are now.

The City of New Orleans has gone through this song and dance before.

Louisiana and most of the South loves football, not baseball.

Sad, but true.

And, as others have already posted, not enough population to support a MLB team.

I don't think NOLA has the population or corporate base to support MLB, especially with two other franchises in the city already. That is a sh*t ton of home games every year. If you look at MLB markets they are generally the biggest of any sports league.

Of the existing markets w/o MLB I'd say the ones that would be most likely are Las Vegas (if they could get around the gambling issue), Portland, Charlotte, and Montreal (again). Possibly one of the big mexican cities like Mexico City or Monterrey.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the people of NO don't support the basketball team and didn't support the Saints very well until they started winning.

If all that is true, I don't see any way they would support a baseball team.

Grew up with one border of our land being Kisatchie national forest. Nearest nabor 1/2 mile down the road was lucky enough to have a satellite in the late 80's. WGN or TBS. loved Dale Murphy. So braves fan. I'm not the point of discussion tho. I say, yes it would work.
